Q: Mine will not adjust to above 90; i can't set to 95. boil does work. description says 40-100. is mine defective?

Hi there, Thanks for buying Jettle, we appreciate you! No, the Jettle Heats in 5 degree increments 40-90, using the left hand button, and to boil directly you would use the right hand button for 100C. We did not include 95 as a setting due to it being so close to boiling there is no use for it. Hope that helps! Any more questions drop us a line!

Q: Does it need to remain plugged in for it to work ?

Yes, plug it in when you want hot water and turn it off afterwards. It will keep it hot for you for awhile after it's reached your desired temperature.

Q: Is the lid plastic and come in any contact with the hot water?

The lid is a combination of plastic, metal, and silicone. I assume the lid is there to prevent boil-over. The very top is a metal disk, but the sides are plastic, and there is a steam-vent on top in the center of the metal disk and that vent is made of silicone which I assume is to prevent the metal from rusting from the steam. The lid screws off and on. The interior of the base is metal (probably steel)

Q: Can I boil milk in this ?

You can heat milk for sure. We would not recommend heating any milk to boiling point, but more on a lower temperature setting to avoid burning the milk.
