Q: Works with cat 5 short cable but not cat 6 longer cable. What am I missing?

Not sure of your problem, as the route I had to take for may cables was about 100 ft of CAT 6. I originally had CAT 5 non shielded cables, and after installing LED lighting with a dimmer switch, it would really screw up the signal. I assumed it would overlay a frequency that would chop up the transmitted signal by the extender. I called AV Access they thought so also. I replaced with CAT 6 shielded cables and the problem went away.

It is not for USB, it is a HDMI extender
