Is this figure more metal than plastic?

That's hard to say. The outer armor is most definitely metal. Especially the larger pieces. But you can tell the areas in the joints are plastic. I think it has to be or else it won't be flexible enough for the articulation. I'm pretty sure the core of the figure is plastic too. But I won't take it apart to find out. This isn't like one of those die cast toy cars. It's a much more refined die cast. I have a 1/6 plastic version of Iron Man by Hot Toys as well. It's a beautiful piece. But you can really, really tell the difference in quality. The die cast is much much better.

does any one know where to get an extra stand rod and clip? the screw to loosen the clip for it to fit on the rod can't be taken out so it is unusable

You can buy both types of stands here on Amazon for cheaper or Sideshow collectibles sells generic stands for more.
