This worked great to restore the rusty trailer hitch assembly on my car. After wire brushing the whole area until it was smooth, I applied the paint and it stuck well to the rusted metal. It dried to the touch after 20 minutes or so. I would recommend 2-3 coats to thoroughly cover, especially if the rust is as bad as mine was.

I bought this rust retardant spray awhile back and finally got the chance to put it to good use after moving into my new house. One of the notes from the home inspection mentioned some rust on the gas line—not exactly something you want to ignore.Enter RUST SOLUTIONS with the Hail Mary! I threw together a makeshift cover to protect the house from over-spray, gave the gas line a few good coats, and let it do its thing.
