Q: does the beam have a dark spot in the center?

It's the best flashlight I've ever owned. I walk my dog in the evening, best ever. I've not noticed any dark spots in the center.

Q: Specifically, what ‘type’ of 1000mAh battery is used? Can’t seem to find info anywhere official. Is it Ni-Cad, Ni-MH, Lithium Ion, etc? Thx!

Lithium-ion 26650 in a dual-cell configuration. (Two 26650 batteries combined into a single battery twice as long.)

Q: How do you recharge this flashlight?

Thanks for contacting Lylting. You can charge the flashlight with the included usb A to Micro usb charging cable. By the way, it is recommended if you have to use a wall charger to charge the flashlight, make sure it is below 5V
