Works like a charm
Mine was purchased thru Amazon from a second party seller. I paid $15.95 for it new with free shipping. I mention this because I've seen some outrageous prices for this item from other sellers.I wanted an easy way to switch a bedroom lamp a few feet away on and off from bed. I first tried TP link (Alexa controlled) but their app wouldn't work on the Fire tablet I use with Echo. I next tried an older remote-controlled wall outlet, but the sending unit was so small it was easy to loose (ending up in the bedding or under the bed). And I never could seem to remember which of the two small buttons was the "on" or "off." Operation was flaky and it didn't always work - seeming to "prefer line-of-sight". Than I saw this device and tried it. Perfect for my needs. What I like: The sending unit is large enough not to lose or misplace. It's a square-sided white box measuring 4" long X1" X1.5". It lays flush on any flat surface. Instead of dual switches, there's just one large button. Click once to turn the plugged in device on. Click again to turn it off. The wall unit makes a confirming "click" sound when activated or deactivated. In addition, a red light on the wall unit remains lighted to signal that it has power. The wall unit also has its own switch should you want to activate your attached device right at the wall instead of using the remote. I've tested the remote at various distances up to 20' and it has worked reliably and without line-of-sight. I'd expect that distance to drop as the battery wears. What I don't like: First, the 3-pronged wall unit is large. You can expect it to cover an entire 2-outlet receptacle leaving no room to plug anything else in. (Somehow, I was able to plug an alarm clock into the second outlet - but consider this the exception rather than the rule.) The sending unit uses a square-shaped 9-V battery (included) instead of the more common 1.5 V power cells. These are not expensive, but do tend to wear down faster. Also, the plastic battery cover seems a bit loose. Won't be a problem for me, as it rests on a flat surface and isn't likely to fall off. But you may wish to apply a small amount of tape to secure it.This device is for indoor use only.

Light with-in reach
My wife loves this little thing. We love to read at night. I read on a tablet, which provides its own light, so I don't use the lamp on my side of the bed and so when I am done reading, I just close my tablet and place it on the nightstand beside me and I am done. However, when my wife is done reading one of her paper books (what is up with that?), she places her book on the bedside table, easily within reach, and then she has to streeeeetch to turn off her lamp. It looks quite funny and I have to admit laughing more than once at her displeasure, but I can understand how it can be a pain. In fact we have been looking for something other than an in-line switch for awhile and when I came across this, I was hoping it would be the answer. It was.My wife no longer has to reach across her body, almost falling off the bed to turn off her lamp!!!Now, once she places her book on the table, she just clicks this remote that is right on the corner of the nightstand and the light goes off. No more reaching, no more grunting, no more fun for me watching her attempt it. Now just a click. I do realize, to some of you young, well fit lads and lasses out there, that reaching for a lamp switch while in bed doesn't sound like too much of a hassle, but if you are over 50 ... you have to know what I mean. Ha.Also, at first, it seemed strange to spend money on essentially a one button gadget, but all I can say, after hearing how much my wife loved the ease in which she now turns off her light, it was well worth every penny! Also, I did test the range, and it has pretty good range. I went to the bottom of our stairs and walked another thirty feet or so down the hall (A total of about fifty feet or so all together, and I could still turn the light on and off with this thing. If I had this when my daughters still lived here, I wuld use it to shut off their lights at bedtime. Haha.Anyway, does what it says and we love it!

Works great, until it doesn't
I use mine to remotely turn on and off my vacuum in my woodworking shop. It works quite well for that purpose since the vacuum can be turned on and off at the main plug-in unit (near the vacuum) as well as from the remote. Few, if any of the similar products on Amazon can do this. I've had it for six months, and a few months ago one of the buttons on the plug-in unit popped off (after normal use; I didn't drop it). Due to the button's design, it was a bit difficult to get it securely reattached. A couple of days ago, the other button popped off, and I wasn't able to reattach it. I don't want to be repeating this purchase every few months. I would gladly pay twice the price for better quality, but I don't see any such options. Will probably end up getting a heavier-duty switch from a woodworking supply catalog.

Simplicity. Plug into your 3 prong plug and push the button for on/off fun
Works great. The little hanging hole on the back of the remote is difficult to use unless you find the perfect screws (which I think may have come with it, but I lost them immediately - if that's true it's because of my tearing open the box like a kid on Christmas - I often respond like that to Amazon packages). It has one button, comes with a battery, you plug into a 3 prong plug (!!! 3 prong - problem in my old, in need of a rewire house, so be aware too). Once plugged in, put the battery included in the remote, and you can be anywhere in the room and the button turns on or off that outlet. Plug in whatever you like. It is as low tech as a remote switch can be. Just on off. No extra functions. No ability to use your phone or anything. But it works for me in a room where the light switch was used for a ceiling fan with no light and a light in the corner was not wired to a switch. No I don't have to walk around the bed in the dark to turn on the corner light. Perfect.
