Love these oats
I've ordered this bucket of oatmeal before and the lid was really hard to open. The oats were great and stayed fresh a long time, but was a struggle to open. They redesigned the lid with this latest order and it is so much easier to open. Hope it stays as fresh, as they are very tasty oats. Make great cookies.

Beware to bulk buyers! The listed weight is very misleading and not what you will receive.
They have listed this product as 8 pounds of oats, apparently because it comes in a gallon bucket, which I suppose would translate to 8 pounds… if it was filled with a gallon of water! That’s not how measuring anything has ever worked. What you really get is 4-ish pounds of oats in a 1 gallon bucket, not the listed 8 pounds, which nearly doubles the price per ounce you may have thought you were buying based on what Amazon lists as the price per ounce. Why would Amazon translate the fact that it comes in a gallon bucket into fluid ounces? I really am baffled about that. I honestly can’t say if it’s intentional to game Amazon’s price/unit system, or a fault in some automatic price/unit calculator that Amazon uses, but either way the price/unit is wrong for this product, so bulk buyers beware. If you’re like me, you may be looking at this product over the 4 pound Quaker Oats version because the price/ounce is slightly lower and you are fine with having 8 pounds of oats. But in reality, with the listed weight mix-up, you’re basically paying twice as much for this than you would the Quaker Oats. Or you’re paying $10 for a gallon bucket to hold your oats in. It is a cool bucket I guess, but not worth an extra $10 in my book. Go for the Quaker Oats, or go to a real bulk food site if you really want to save your money. Pretty unimpressed with Amazon’s bulk food selections this time around, when it’s been pretty decent in the past.

It's dry oatmeal
I mean, it's a large container. There's a ton of it and I felt it was worth the price. It did not have any insects or insect eggs in it which I definitely appreciate. It's dry oats, so obviously there's not a whole lot of flavor. Still, it's a great value for it's quantity, and I personally kind of prefer just eating handfuls of it dry.

I love the sheer size of this product. Lasts a long time. Saves money.
I love this product because of the sheer value. It's huge and can last a whole entire month or more. Great value for the money. I use it to bake, make granola, pancakes. Just great value and saves money on your food budget. More for the money.

Taste good, but need extra steps for long-term storage
Like another reviewer here I received warped buckets and was worried. When I contacted customer service about whether or not this would be a problem for long-term storage, they were very courteous and contacted the respective team. Their response assured me that this would not impact the longevity of my oats. But they stressed that, as with unwarped buckets, these oats are not supposed to last longer than a year, so if you want to store them for longer, you need to take extra steps.I was planning on putting them in mylar bags anyway (with oxygen and moisture absorbers), so this wasn't an issue for me. The buckets are easy enough to reseal, so you can just store your mylar bags in them.I have since tried the oats and find that they have a pleasant flavor and texture. This also seems to be the best deal I've been able to find, so I'm going to keep buying them for both long and short-term storage. It's definitely not going to take me a year to get through one bucket.

Part of our Poultry Feed Recipe
We bought this to add to our poultry feed and it has been great. The oats are hardy and fresh. The packaging is perfect and easy to open and close. The chickens have been enjoying it in their feed as well. There is a lot in the container so it lasts a while. Great to be able to purchase in bulk.
