The Skate/Longboarder's First Suftskate
For context: I am someone who's snowboarded for many years, skated on and off for years, and started longboarding a few years back, but only done a surfing lesson. Seeing all these new surfskates and systems from Carver, Yow, Smoothstar, Swelltech, and others made me want to try them, but pulling the trigger on a new board can be expensive as all heck. This looked like an affordable way to give it a shot with gear I already own. Packaging, Build, and Features: You get an octagonal box, with installation instructions printed on the outer facets if the interior box. Everything is packaged well, so no cosmetic nicks or blemishes due to shipping. Hardware is in color coded bags for front and rear adapters. The adapters them self are well built and feel substantial in the hand and on a board, adding heft. Unlike a Carver C7, or Yow Meraki system, Waterborne used a unique square bushing system to create the surfy front truck. Because it raised my boards above either of their stock riser heights, and was designed with a limiter to prevent wheel bite, I did not need to use risers or shock pads on either board with the Waterborne adapters. The increased ride height made me not want to try any tricks on it, however, aside from manuals, which somehow felt easier? 🤷 Another potential benefit to non-surfers is that it will work out muscles you didn't know you had and allows you another method of generating forward momentum. Riding Experience: I tried these out on two different boards I've owned so far, a Sector 9 Ninety Five Cascade Mini-Cruiser with Gullwing Shadow Trucks and Sector9 Nine balls 60mm stomeground wheels, and a Landyachtz Ripper Watercolor Longboard with Bear TPK trucks, and 63mm Fatty Hawgz wheels. . Both times, I swapped the trucks and wheels from the original boards, just installing the surfskate adapters, though I also did try them out with Waterborne's Living Water surfskate wheels. I'm 5'10, ~200 lbs, for reference. The Sector 9 was the first experience and while it was fun, it wasn't quite right for my riding style and body type. The wheelbase was too short and it was kind of a strange stance. But it was still fun and interesting and the thing carved super deep and turned on a dime. It felt like a super carvey mini cruiser, but it rode very tall and the overall narrow width of the board made it harder to balance on if I needed to push. The smaller, rounded lip wheels also broke loose unintentionally once, leading to a fall. The Living Water wheels were a straight improvement there. The Ripper, on the other hand, immediately felt like the winner. Stable, surfy, and very fun to ride. Turned faster and carved deeper than stock, of course, but also so playful. The Ripper was already one of my all time favorite setups, and now it's even better. It's slightly less stable to push on for distance, but it is also easier to push and ride normally than the mini cruiser. It really does feel like a surfboard, and I've had so much fun bombing around on it and exercising with it. Conclusion: Really, because you could put this on any board and try it out, it does make it a universal adapter, and while it's not the same as say, a Carver C7 or Yow Meraki, it's definitely a great way to experience whether or not surfskating is for you. As far the rear adapter, I like it. I don't think it's strictly necessary, but I've enjoyed my time with mine. Disclaimer: I have not been paid or otherwise compensated for my review. I bought this product with my own money for my own purposes. My experiences are subjective of course, so ymmv.

It works on Longboard Drop Through, Zig Zag much easy. On Skateboard it needs extra rail adapter
I have Drop Through Longboard brand Atom that I bought from Amazon. I thought It's perfect for carving. Then I made a leap of faith getting this Waterborne adaptor after watching YouTube clips. And this thing is so amazing. Just get it. Don't ask why. I almost spend another $250 on Surf skate, this adapter saves me money. Pro -Easy Installation. -High quality front (surf adapter) -Screws and nuts provided. -Carving on longboard much more easy. -Sharp turn even much more. -On flat surface you don't have to push, it runs by itself when you move your ankle up and down. -It works like Ripstick with balance of 4 wheels that you don't have to touch the ground. -It feels more smoothly on uneven ground with small holes, small bumps, (analogy: feels like the luxury car suspension). Cons: -Plastic Rail (back) Adapter. Not the same as the one in their website as of 2020 Jan. it looks cheap. -Speed will slow down a bit due to the attachment raising your board from the ground. -It makes the board heavier so it will be harder to do kick flip trick etc. Overall, BIG POSITIVE. I sacrifice the "trick-ability" for comfort mobility. Must Have if you are more into carving zig zag moves etc. NOTE: If you have a skateboard, highly recommended to get the Rail adapter to increase turn ratio. But if you have a longboard, you don't have to get the rail adapter, since longboard truck is flexible enough for you to just twisting your hip to move the longboard without the need for your foot to step down on the ground to push and move forward.

Nice alternative to skate / surf hybrid feel.
Get a similar carving feel to surfing. True, nothing can replicate a board in the water. Through the use of this system, there are a few adjustments that can be made to achieve a similar feel of a surfboard. Having surfed for many years, this new tech brought me excitement when using and at times really does produce a similar effect to surfing. The rest is your board set-up, wheels etc. The feel of "surfing" on whatever surface you are riding on comes more from having a point to begin without thinking of riding a skateboard; riding a slope while moving down an incline. From there, adjustments to tune it in for a feel that slightly mimics surfing. You can go to your usual arm and hip movement to adjust for turns due to the extensive carve angles of the system, close, not perfect, but the next step up is actually being on a board in the water. I am hoping for further improvements from this company. They should also produce boards, wheels and anything else to complement the design and continue to move forward, which I am not seeing done. If they wait, someone else will perfect it more. Get on it all!! ... Go On a hill and don't push. Just carve and get use to it. Happy concreate surfing!!

mounted on a 46 inch twin tip with indy 169mm trucks and 75mm Kyptonic wheels I use it for land kite foiling. It is easy to adjust with the fin system although I did put in a harder durometer to the front pivot as I dont need it to be too reactive. I have Carver C7s, Yow and Gullwing sidewinders in my kit but this Waterboune system is the best. My advise to anyone wanting to try skate surfing is to get the fin system with the rail adapter for the rear, mount a good quality standard truck (not RKP) and cruise or carve away.

It works great. Turn my 48 inches longboard to a surfskate board. Easy installation. Lots of fun. Love it. It is a little taller but it helps to avoid wheel bites.
