Fantastic Sound and Easy Setup
I got this as I was looking for a good vocals processing unit that I could use on stage whilst playing guitar and not have to relay on someone else to switch effects. The unit is absolutely solid and has a ton of effects available. Out the box the presets are great but will need tweaking for my use. The computer effects designer was easy to install (install driver then application) and worked flawlessly on macOS Sonoma. Really easy to navigate and sync.I’m yet to use in a live environment but the home studio usage was easy and sounded great. Vocoder can be used with instrument or just voice. Harmoniser has multiple levels applied at once and the customisation is very in depth.Would highly recommend for anyone with the need for multiple vocal effects in the convenience of a foot switched pedal.

Minor problem
Nothing wrong with the product at all.The XlR mixer sockets were not compatible with my mixer.I tried an adaptor but that just created a dreadful hum.so no choice but to return the item.

Good machine but slow to start working properly after switch on.
I bought this to replace a vocalist live 5 that let me down once at a gig. Never happened again, but I couldn't trust it live after that. The VE-500 has a much clearer sound that took a while getting used to. The live 5 has a muddy sound that makes it easier to get away with slight mistakes, whilst the Boss is unforgivingly crystal clear but in a good way(!).It's easy to program if you use the editor app, otherwise not so much. The big issue with this machine is that it takes about 40 seconds after turning on (hot or cold) for the harmonies to start coming through. This is the second unit I've had as I sent the first one back, and they were both the same.At first Boss were interested and asked for a video of the fault, which I duly recorded and e-mailed to them, after which, nothing. So I guess they're keeping their heads down. I'm probably unusual in that I control the harmony volume through the expression socket using a Boss foot pedal and it may be something to do with the controller information bogging down at startup. I'd be interested if anyone else has this problem.Anyway, I always work around this by switching it on a minute or so before I'm about to play. Other than that I'm happy with it, and, judging by the anecdotal reports of numerous issues with the tc voicelive 3, I'm going to stick with this for now. If you're thinking of buying one consider this a heads up.

Best vocal effect pedal by far!!
After reading the previous review i had second thoughts about buying this product. So i called up Boss UK and enquired about the VE 500, mentioning the issues i had read about. The technician assured me the VE is trouble free unit and has been tested in the studio and during live performances with no issues at all. He guaranteed me that if i had any problems with the sound that the VE could be sent direct to him so he could test it, and if found to be faulty a full refund would be given. So i went ahead and purchased it. After having gone through every effort numerous times, listening to recordings with high quality headphones, i can honestly say there are no strange sounds to be heard, other than excellent qulaity sounding effects. It fits perfectly onto my pedal board and will be used for my next live gig and when i go into the recording studio in three weeks time. Ive been using boss pedals for twenty years and never had any issues at all. If you are a guitar/vocalist and want to take your performance to the next level of sound and creativity then you will not be dissatisfied with the VE500.

Big disappointment
Up till now I've been a big Boss fan and have the guitar ME-80 and had some Boss fx units before that, I also have the Boss VE20 Vocal performer and that's been a big favourite of mine but after seeing some videos of the Boss VE 500 I wanted to upgrade esp as it had an on line Editor. However since getting this I have not been able to load the driver never mind the software. When I downloaded the driver it says "Kodi" media centre so somehow they have uploaded the wrong software. Also the built in harmonies are nothing like I heard on the videos, they were very out of tune and most of them did not mix with the original vocal very well. Reverb and Delay were ok but I mainly want this for the harmony and also the choir I heard on video was nothing like the one I heard on this unit. I do not know if there is some kind of firmware update available to fix all this but the software you download does not match the unit never mind anything else. I am going to have to return this to Gak sadly.
