Great information for a newbie to the world of private practice.
This book covers most questions I had about getting started in private practice. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to open a private practice in mental health therapy.

Pleased.
I haven't had a chance to do more than skim, so far. I believe from what I have seen that is what I expected, as a basic "how to" manual.

Very useful for consultants, too
Stout and Grand's book on private practice in the mental health professions has direct relevance and practical, realistic tips for consultants in private practice, and for those considering "hanging up a shingle." Good advice on calculating if you can actually afford it, step by step marketing techniques, and once you are there, sensible strategies for dealing with the ups and downs of going it alone. Highly recommended.

Lots to think about
I'm only part way through this book, and as someone who doesn't know a heck of a lot about business, this book has ceretainly given me a lot to think about. The author presents the information in a matter-of-fact way that doesn't make me feel belittled for not being business saavy. It feels like a book that I will reference long after I have started by practice.
