Very good book easy to understand

A good book for understanding the foundation of pattern 'block' construction. This helps with the sewing of basic garments. Gives you the know-how to achieve design and making your own patterns

This book has been around for a very long time and is being reprinted and updated on a regular basis. It's the basis of dress-making and designing one's own sewing patterns. It covers all major topics of body blocks for the female body with variations to create one's own designs.Due the advanced nature of this topic, it is not surprising that this book is not really self-explanatory - it is best used in conjunction with some tuition which explains how the principles of creating a body block work and how to create a perfect fit. In that context I would rate this book as the short-hand bible for all dress-makers.

This is not a new book for me as I bought it for a friend. I have used this book all my working life as a fashion designer and lecturer and recognise this is the best pattern cutting book for beginners and professionals alike.

Write up was good. Book in good condition. Pleased.

This is one of the better pattern drafting books out there. I borrowed it from the library before purchasing because of previous disappointments with drafting books. Once I'd looked through it , I purchased my own copy. I would highly recommend it , I'm a beginner at pattern drafting but this book has helped me grasp the principles quicker than any other book on the subject.

I attend dressmaking classes and this book was recommended by the tutor and following instructions my skirt fitted perfectly. Now on to other patterns!!

The one and only Winifred Aldrich! A great book for anyone wanting to learn pattern cutting. As long as you can understand written English and do basic maths.
