Bball Basics for Kids: A Basketball Handbook

I bought this for my 7 year old grandson who would shoot hoops all day long if you let him. Basketball is a fabulous sport for those who play and for those who watch—it is a shame that the game is not totally understood, because the more you learn, the more you love the game. (I remember one Mom yelling “get the rebound!” when the ball was being dribbled mid court and no one had yet taken a shot). This book tells you everything you need to know in sufficient detail by an author who keeps the subject matter interesting. As a Mom of two basketball players when in high school, I cannot tell you how many games I watched them play, and then how many games I watched at their Universities. I even bought a video tape to learn more about the game, but sadly it was so boring I fell asleep. I picked up some knowledge from my husband and other Dads, but I wish I had read this book first. I recommend it for anyone who needs a basic knowledge of the game and more, whether you play or watch.

I like this book for our 8 year old who’s getting interested in basketball. It’s easy for her to read and good illustrations.

Son is having a good time reading this. I always want to make sure he reads 20-30 mins a night and give him something that not only stretches his mind but peaks his interest. He already loves ball and he's 11 so this is seeming to solve both problems. He's asking questions and giving me facts from what he read when he's done and that's satisfying.
