A random string of bizarre events
I've heard that this is an allegory based on the life of St. Anthony. Even if it's true, I don't think knowing that would add to an appreciation of this movie. As each scene went by I was really perplexed by what it was about and where it was going. I love experimental films, but this one really didn't grab me at all. As strange it was, the scenes had very little impact, because they were all so brief and underdeveloped. The funny thing is, any one of the scenes could have been developed into a full-fledged story of its own and probably would have been really interesting. The whole movie could have been about his encounter with the Chinese pilgrims, or it could have been about the deaf shepherd that he met. Instead, each vignette was just dropped dead. There was an attempt to bring it all together in the last 5-10 minutes, but it was way too late for it to matter. On the other hand, as most everybody here has noted, the film has some really beautiful photography, especially at the beginning. It made me want to go to wherever this was filmed.

One of those I had to think about
I bought the movie from being pleased with another movie by the same director, O Fantasma. This particular movie is definitely not one to fit into the Hollywood mold. Scenery great, each vignette good and increasingly stranger. Overall, I liked the creativity and obviously different ways of thinking. The love scene between the main actor and the mute goat shepherd was beautiful, but ended so tragic. A good addition to my collection just because it is so over the top different.

Like some random scrapbook you'd find, except it's a movie.
I think if you are a progressive Roman Catholic, this would appeal to you. It was so strange and experimental. I kept thinking how did he get people to back this film with money and talent? In a way, it's not a film, but more like a somebody's scrap book that you find randomly and so you are left to figure out what all the pieces mean, if you so choose. My spouse suggested throwing it in the dust bin immediately.

Languorous, sensual, and beautiful. Not for recommended for impatient viewers, but anyone looking for an engrossing slow burn will be rewarded.

Very different, weird at points! Fun! Different
I really like this movie 🎥 loaded with symbolism. Dripping with eroticism and Homo eroticism. Lol. Raised Catholic. Believe me "we understand symbolism. And finding your way in life and 💕 love

Brand new Take on a Brand Old Story
Odd, somewhat disjointed film based - O, so very loosely - on the apocryphal life of St. Anthony. The characters are as as indiscernible as their behavior is improbable. But the film still manages to deliver a dreamy, erotic story line told best in its imagery alone.

Weird but wonderfful.
Weird, but in a complex and twisted way. I want to see more from this film team.

Beautifuly Shot
Beautifuly shot, the scenery is stunning, acting was good, it’s a very arty film, a little hard to follow at times, but I enjoyed it all the same.

..mah!!!!
Il film inizia bene, poi sembra diventare un thriller e infine.....mah!..non ho trovato un senso nella parte finale. Nel complesso non mi ha entusiasmato quasi per niente!
