Mochi Madness
I ordered these via Prime and received them 2 days later. The ones I received have an expiration date 4 months in the future and are very "fresh" and soft. I received one 15.8 ounce package as advertised and Amazon's breakdown per ounce is correct. Included are sesame-covered black sesame paste-filled, peanut dust-covered peanut butter-filled, and white red bean paste-filled mochi. None of these are very sweet. In fact, I'd bet there's very little added sugar. The sesame ones were, in fact, a bit bitter. Surprisingly, the peanut butter ones are my favorites. Usually, I'd prefer the ones with red bean paste but those seem to lack a strong flavor. If you're not familiar with mochi, you'll either be in for a treat or will want to throw them out (or up). As another reviewer noted, they have a gummy bear-like, spongey-ish texture that's either delightful or disgusting. The texture is similar to Gummi Life Savers, but with a flavored paste inside. I love them. My husband does not. More for me!

Yummy!
Great product! Was craving some mochi and saw the good reviews for this and thought I'd give a try and I'm happy with the purchase. Very chewy and soft, well packaged and you do get quite a few pieces for the price you pay. I would probably go with the peanut one as my favorite flavor since it was the strongest/most fragrant. I liked the topping on the outside and how smooth the filling was. The red bean was the softest in my opinion and had a creamy center filling however there were some small pieces on red bean left so don't be alarmed if you come across that; the filling isn't completely smooth throughout but it wasn't a problem for me. The black sesame was chewy and the classic black sesame paste was a nice touch however I wouldn't say it was as fragrant as I expected if you are used to this flavor in a fresh mochi variety but again, not bad for what you're paying. I don't have any complaints as far as amount of filling goes, I would love there to be more but I don't have an issue with what is given. Would purchase again.

Nice experience
This was my first time trying mochi and I have to say I love it. It definitely has a very unique texture. Not much flavor to the mochi itself so all of the flavor comes from the filling. I will admit it was strange at first but by the end of the box I was finding myself wanting more. The packaging is nice. There were a lot more mochi than I was expecting, though I will admit they were smaller than I anticipated. Each one comes individually wrapped in what look like paper cupcake liners, and inside of protective plastic inside the box.As with any new food there's a chance that you wom't like it and I do have to say the sesame is not my favorite. It has a very particular flavor, amd is very bitter. The seeds on the outside give a nice chrunchiness that I actually liked, but the filling was not the best. The anko or red bean paste was very mild compared to the other two. Since there is no outside coating the mochi is only flavored by the anko. I did like it however and eould recomend starting with this one.The peanut was my favorite. The outside is coated in peanut crumbs and the inside is filled with an almost coarse beanut butter. Very sweet and gives the mochi a nice flavor. All in all I very much enjoyed this, with the exception of the sesame.

Not my cup of tea, but worth the experience.
I've never had this before so I'm not quite sure how it is supposed to taste. I chose to buy this because it was the cheapest one that I came across at the time, I don't know if that affects the quality of the product but here is my personal experience with this product. This will be a long post so bare with me. Your experience may differ. To start out, I read everything I could about this particular product, the good and the bad and the one thing everyone said more than anything was that the peanut confectionary was very pungent, and I thought 'I love peanut butter, so that wont really be a problem.' so I bought them.Regular/Red paste: Ok in flavor, a little grainy. Not disgusting but certainty not appetizing.Brown/Peanut butter: Little to no peanut butter taste or smell. Not pungent at all and just not good.Sesame seed/Black paste: A lot of seeds. I couldn't really taste the paste inside. Over all a dull smoky flavor. They all had: A spongy texture and complete bland flavor. To be fair, the peanut butter smell was on the box after I opened it but only for a minute or two and the package itself wasn't peanut butter smelling either, the confectionary didn't even have that much of a scent.I think that perhaps, living in America, I've been surrounded by a large quantity of rather overly sweet foods and snacks so perhaps my tasting is a bit sewed on this which could reason why they tasted dull. I realize that this is the Japanese style confectionary made in Taiwan so this may have something to do with the taste also, aside from the fact that I've never had much, if anything, like this. The confectionary in general seemed a bit like it had been frozen, a cool and thick paste, nothing like the spilling, more runny look on the box. This I can understand for shipping reasons, otherwise it would be rotten, so nothing wrong there. I thought I would leave them out a bit, to soften up but it didn't really work, so I thought I would put them in the microwave, to heat them a bit. (HUGE mistake on my part, I have no patience at all!!) Long story short: 20sec is too long and will melt everything, making these, if it's even possible, way more inedible than they were previously. To wrap this up, I would say that this is a one time buy for me but certainly worth the experience. It seems like a lot of people love this so don't be discouraged on buying them just yet. This wasn't something I was totally into but it was worth the money to find out.

Dried out and disgusing
If you like your mochi, this is definitely not it. This was dry and firm. Tasted old. So bad we actually spit it out. Save your time and money, do not purchase this mochi. You'll be so disappointed if you do.
