Great upgrade from the typical plastic "marble race" toys
My 8-year old used to love playing with an old plastic marble race toy we bought at Toys 'R Us several years before she was born, and when I found Gravitrax it seemed like a logical upgrade to her old favorite. The combinations you can build are nearly infinite, and the extra pieces (sometimes a little gouge-y on the prices, but they don't have any non-branded compatible versions) like the "lifter" and the magnetic launcher really do work as long as you follow the directions. My only complaints about the toy are that the configurations are a little advanced for a smaller child, because you have these hexagonal building tiles, and only certain lengths of ramps which to run between them. Spacing can be a little frustrating for young ones as a result, but as long as you follow some of the build directions (there's a decent, print version included in the starter set), it's easy enough to engineer around. The real thing that absolutely makes this a terrific toy is the app that you can use in conjunction with the physical toy. Not only can you see some of the pre-built suggestions that the manufacturer has provided (a few more than in the printed book with the set), but you can build almost anything in a virtual world *and* run a marble through it to see if it works. My daughter has almost had more fun building them in the app than in reality, but sometimes she'll surprise us and we'll find a huge setup she's built throughout the house. The price may seem high for what you get, but if you include the (free!) app with your assessment of the whole product, it seems like a bargain.

Great STEM gift for wide age range.
I buy these for my nephew as a more unique alternative to marble drop games and he loves them. Easy to follow instructions and he expands and makes his own designs too. Since this game involves magnetism, the steel marbles need to be kept separate from standard marble drop marbles.

No Limits to the fun you can have with this set
This is tons and tons of fun! There is an app you can use to download on your tablet or phone and that will help you design tracks. I use it all the time. I Created an infinity track. That is it repeats and repeats and the only time it stops is if you interrupt it. Much fun

Lot of fun
Kids really enjoy this. Fun, easy to use. I just feel like you get nickel and dimed with all of the different expansion packs and such. But a lot of fun.

My 11 year old granddaughter loves this!
My granddaughter loves this. She is extremely intelligent and can put together a 1000 piece Lego set in a couple of hours. She is sked for marble tracks so I researched and this seemed like thr best and most challenging. She was do happy, I purchased like 3 extensiong sets for her.

Lots of fun. Just make sure to get the starter kit first.

This is a more sophisticated step-up from marble run.
I love using the Gravitrax set with ADHD children to teach focus by following simple directions to more difficult project directions.
