Models Lcvp with U.S. Infantry D-Day Series Boat Model Building Kits

Really wonderful kit. There are several different heads among the platoon, so with variation in painting and arms, you can get unique soldiers. If I were doing this again, I would leave off the gas mask bag, but everything else seems great. The boat itself went together easily. I would paint the life preservers a light overall tan color, having made I think the wrong decision for color. Since there are so few color images from the era, the modeler needs to do a lot of research to get the colors and weathering done right. There were variations with use and with how beaten up these boats were with use, so the modeler has a lot of options in weathering. I wound up CA gluing all the men into the boat. This was not my original choice, but it turned out to be the most practical one. I later placed the boat into a shoreline diorama instead of displaying it on the stand. The diorama approach just looks better since the boat is fully loaded with men. Also I used five of the men in a LCVP model where they are carrying the larger gear (50 cal guns/ammo and flame thrower). This helps to see all the work put into painting and detailing the individual figures, and also get everyone to fit well into the boat.

It is high-quality model kit. I did not expect anything less, from the Italieri model company. Only thing that was less than good, was packaging by the seller. The model kit Is simply been put in Amazon plastic bag. So the model kit was intact. However, the box of the model, was ripped open. Most likely in shipping.

Just got my kit and wow! Not even sure where to start with 28 figures to build and paint. This is a quality kit both the figures and boat.

I haven’t started the kit just yet I reviewed the parts and instructions. Can’t wait to to assemble it. Makes a fine item for a diaroma I want to build. Worth the money.

This is an excellent model of the Higgins boat. Very detailed. My father in law drove these boats in the Pacific during WW II.

I think this was was called a Higgins boat, used for D day landings. It's a really good kit with plenty of soldiers. They all have pretty much the same stance (standing) so had to add some runners from another kit to simulate a D day landing diorama. But good value non the less.
