Helpful for chronic foot pain
*I have pain in both feet, so I purchased 2 of the splints, so keep that in mind when I refer to the pair of them, since the listing is for one boot*I have horrible plantar fasciitis foot pain in both feet from dis-use. I'm disabled and spend a lot of time in bed, so the plantar fasciitis is not from being on my feet, but more from my feet flexing the wrong way under the covers. These braces are as comfortable as wearing giant boots to bed can be. Part of my heel pain is where my heels touch the bed while lying down, and I don't feel that pressure in the boots. One reason I purchased these was the "removable ice pack" feature, which is little more than water quilted into squares. DO NOT consider that a selling point -- it's very flimsy, doesn't cool to be helpful in refrigerator, and when frozen feels like you've put a literal ice tray under your feet. I have better luck shoving actual ice packs down there. As others have said, the uppermost strap is rather snug. My calf circumference is 16" at the widest (higher than the boot strap, I think), and it was pretty snug fit until it stretched out a bit.One caveat: you may want to invest in some sort of knee pillow or bolster. When I don't use one, my knees tend to bend backwards a bit, which is uncomfortable, and my feet or toes can fall asleep in painful ways. It doesn't help that I have cats who sleep on my legs, but I think I'd need the knee pillow anyway. It's a little annoying that there's just one boot, and not a left and right boot -- it can be awkward snapping in the straps on the left boot, which end up on the outside of the leg.All in all, these splits are worth it. I call them my moon boots. I can clomp 15 feet to the toilet in the night, but they're very awkward to walk in.

Great splint, but sizing, as listed, is wrong for women
When deciding to purchase this splint, I saw some reviews from women saying the size they ordered was much too large. I suspect the men's sizing is fairly accurate (most likely it was made, and marketed, by men), but if you are familiar with the typical difference in numbering between men and women's shoes, you will agree something is strange here. I wear a 9.5-10 women's running shoe, which is about the same size as a man's 8. I ordered the Medium, and it's a perfect fit with some room to spare both in length and width. The large would have been gigantic on me, so I am glad I did not blindly follow the manufacturer's sizing suggestions.I propose the sizing should be something more like:Small: Women <6.5/7, Men <5Med: Women 7-10.5/11, Men size 5-10Large: Women 11+, Men 10+Other than the wonky sizing instructions, I very much like the splint. The ice pack is quite cold, even with a thin sock on, and gave me the same cold ache as I get from an ice massage. I agree with another reviewer who said that the velcro portion of the top strap is potentially a little short for someone with larger calves. However, the strap on the overlapping buckle is long enough that the velcro not meeting well shouldn't keep someone from using the splint effectively. I am using the splint without the toe wedge until my foot loosens up some, but I like that the velcro on the wedge allows you to adjust the placement to get more or less of a stretch. I previously tried a dorsal-style splint (the futuro one), and no matter how I adjusted it my toes fell asleep or it just didn't position my foot properly. This boot style is bulkier but much more comfortable and effective.According to the instructions, the removable soft liner is hand-washable. It's attached in the boot with velcro, so it isn't too difficult to get back in place.

The boot I received has different straps than the one pictured here and which did not work for my plantar fasciitis
I purchased this in a size medium to help with my plantar fasciitis. I take a size 9 shoe and my toes go to the tip of the boot. Unfortunately, I sent this back for a refund because the boot I received is not exactly as pictured (see attached pictures). In essence, I was either sent the wrong item or Amazon sent the correct item and did not update their site to reflect what is being purchased. I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. The straps are gray and they clip in front of the leg to secure the top two straps. In the Amazon picture, the lower strap is on the diagonal so that it can be cinched tight to pull up on the ball of the foot to put it in a flexed position. This helps to stretch the foot and relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis. No such option existed on the boot I received. It is only the gray wedge under the ball of the foot that provides the stretch and not a very deep stretch at that because the wedge is too thin.Besides the wedge, there's a ice pack extending from the toes to the heel that is the width of a sheet of paper that can be inserted into the boot. It does work to lightly ice the foot and after the pack is removed, the coldness is maintained since the L-shaped part of the boot is a molded plastic. There's also an instruction sheet. The bottom Velcro strap has an extra piece of Velcro that can be used to secure it should the original Velcro "wear away." The boot is of sturdy constructions but I do worry about the Velcro lasting on the bottom foot where there is no strap. This feels like a ski boot on and is not exactly comfortable to sleep in. It is also not easy to walk in such as when walking from the bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I wanted to give the product I received a chance so I tried it for three days but it did nothing to help my pain. I think if it had the strap shown in the Amazon picture that can be cinched to pull up on the ball / toes of the foot, it might have worked. I returned this for a refund.

Comfortable immobilization, worth purchasing.
Purchased this and used it during my torn achilles recovery along with using after rough games. It provides excellent support, ankle/foot positioning and most of all comfort.Straps are soft and velcro holds well. Underfoot rubber also works well for traction and quietness while walking with it.
