Good Grinder But Over Time Grinds Larger Particles
Use the grinder for making coffee through a Chemix. A Chemix uses a medium/coarse grind. For the amount of coffee I brew it should take between 3 1/2-4 minutes. I like my coffee slightly stronger so aim for 4 minutes.I like the 15 settings this grinder has, and while I only have used a few, this grinder is smooth grinding. The rubber on the bottom helps. From my experience any small to medium sized grinder takes some hand coordination from the user. This one is easier than most.So after reading my mostly positive reply you might be wondering why I gave it 3 stars. Have had this grinder a little less than a year. It suffers from what I call “grinder creep”I first settled on a setting of 5 1/2 which gave me the perfect size grains for the strength of coffee and my 4 minutes. It was consistent for about 7-8 months. I was noticing my coffee starting to taste weaker. So I timed the brewing process and saw it finished in just under 3 1/2 minutes. So I changed it to the 5 setting. Coffee brewed the right strength and time. After a few weeks it was weak again. Timed it and went to the 4 1/2 setting. I’m now at the 4 setting and wondering how much longer this grinder will work for me.If someone needed a finer ground I would not recommend this grinder for fairly quickly you wouldn’t be able to get it fine enough,Overall I like everything about this grinder. Possibly I have a defective one where maybe there is something loose that is causing it to grind coarser over time at the same setting.

First one froze up after a few uses, but was quickly replaced by Amazon.
Bought this grinder to process whole beans for a fine espresso grind. The first unit arrived and although a little jerky in operation did a good job producing the desired grind until the mechanism suddenly slowed way down and froze after about two weeks of use. Did the Amazon paper work on line and they sent me a new one with one day delivery. This new one is smoother from the start without the jerky hang up that the first one had from the start. So far (one week), so good. My only criticism of the design is the handle. A 20-30% longer handle with a larger, deeper knob would make the grinding action easier and more pleasant. All in all, a nice unit.

Steel Conical burs - Faster Grinding than 2 others with ceramic bus Ive owned
Grind adjusts on front. Can turn crank in either direction with breaking It only grids in one direction The bottom of the coffee grind jar is flared outward at the base making it more stable with the crank handle on it but it is more difficult to clean

The grander heads seem to be a lot better then the others
So far this is working but time will tell only have on thing I can say. Could of made the jar bigger and with a lid but seems to work well just lost some stares after hand washing it a couple of times in Dawn this is what the knob looks like

The best, yet needs a better grip.
First of all, let me tell you why I choose this model. I wanted a conical burr, but I absolutely hate those fragile and easily broken ceramic burrs. Ceramic is hard, but it is also very brittle when impacted. It will chip and fail. Steel however will not break easily. It will bend just a tiny bit under the stresses that would chip the burr of a ceramic model. This model has just one weak point. It needs a much better handle. No, not on the grinder arm. But keeping the base and body of the grinder still while rotating the arm is very hard. If the little collection jar was made of steel, I would secure it in a vice so I could grind much easier. But it is glass. But still, this is a very nice grinder. Even though it is very hard to use, I would buy it again knowing this.

Overall a good coffee grinder
Nice grinder. Adjustability is great. Have a hard time holding it while grinding. Not sure how to engineer a solution - some kind of handle, maybe?Has a nice heavy duty feel to it. To me, the adhesive on the bottom is useless- too much torque has to be used for it to stick and hold to any surface.I was disappointed with the top of grinder- the inside is plastic. I thought the whole thing was stainless steel- inside and out.

Serious flaws
Serious design flaws. The steel burr is constantly rubbing against itself and is creating small metal filings that fall in the coffee. Only when I put the adjustment to 6-8 does the burr stop grinding against itself. But this is too coarse of a grind for my espressos. When trying to contact customer service about this issue several times, I’ve received no response.

It works
This coffee grinder seems to be much more durable than the ceramic ones I had before. The grinding burr is a single piece of steel, instead of a ceramic burr with a cheap plastic center that is almost guaranteed to break with daily usage. I use it for grinding coffee for my french press, and it grinds much more quickly and evenly than anything else I have ever used. I am really glad I made this purchase!!
