This Present Darkness by Peretti, Frank E. [Crossway,2003] (Paperback) Revised edition Paperback – January 1, 2002

This book was great. It will open your eyes to the things that are going on in the spiritual realm. Praying to our LORD is a must. Prayer for others is a must. Never doubt what God can do when you pray. If you read this book, right down the names of people and the angels. At the beginning, it was hard to keep up with the names, but I kept reading and it got easier. I can't wait to read the author's next book.

What a riveting story! Although it was published long ago, the plot is relevant today. I highly recommend reading this book!

This is one of my top books of all times. You have to consciously read this or you will get lost in it. The world as a whole should read this to understand the spirit realm. This opened my eyes so much to God, angels and demonic activity present in the world.

My pastor has mentioned this series several times so I finally bought it and I am so glad I did. This book is full of action and drama with humor packed in as well. Frank Peretti truly has a gift for describing the spiritual battles and how important prayer is.

I'd originally read this book as a teenager, loving every minute of it. Now I went back and re-read it as an adult. Peretti is definitely a writer gifted at taking a plot and moving it forward. The book is very difficult to put down. He is inventive and these "spiritual thrillers" (This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness) are to my mind some of Peretti's better work (I've read two other of his novels after this). It's a fun, rollicking roller coaster ride and was at the time a revolutionary take on the spiritual warfare scene.That being said, this is a novel, one man's imagination put to paper about how possibly the war in the unseen realm takes place. It is not and was never meant to become the basis for Angelology and Demonology (as it was used by some I knew in the 1990's). I have some issues with the way that Peretti portrays angels intervening in humans' lives (I have less issues with the way he portrays the demons doing this), but as long as I remember that this is a novel and not a teaching book I can overlook those. I have always been challenged by the character of Hank Busche, the Praying Man. He is still a challenge to me today as an adult (perhaps somewhat more cynical and jaded than as the wide-eyed 15-year-old who first picked up the book).It's definitely worth the Kindle cost, though I don't think I'd invest in the hard copy and probably won't read it again anytime soon.

A great book to open anyone's understanding into spiritual warfare. We wrestle not against flesh and blood (humans; one another), but whatever evil spirit, principality a person CHOOSES to yield themselves to. Who are you yielding your members to (your body, mind, soul)? I could not put this book down! Read it the first time in 3 days. Decided to read it again. It's that good! All of Frank Peretti's books are great. Give them a read! Really wish he would/could write more!!

This book is an eye opener to the heavenly realm. Every Christian should read it at least once in their lifetime.
