Great for the price
Definitely a better sound than the onboard microphones. Not stereo, but for my purposes for this I don't require a stereo microphone. I had a bit of an issue initially determining whether my camera even would power it - since I had conflicting searches online about whether the Canon EOS R50 would power from the aux jack rather than from the shoe. I kept finding sites telling me it would not, but it clearly IS powering this one. You can see the difference with and without this on when recording someone talking. Just a better, cleaner sound. For the price? Outstanding. I just wanted an improvement without spending much money. This did just that.

Pretty good microphone for the value
This is the first microphone that I got for my DSLR camera and I will say it got the job done. Obviously it is no sennheiser shotgun microphone but it works well when you get the audio levels right and properly positioned in front of you. This is a great first microphone to learn all the techniques of audio recording and to perfect your craft before you get better gear.

Good, but maybe not on all cameras..?
Overall the mic seems to work good. So far I have tested it on a Hc-V7700, a Vixia Hf R500 and a Samsung Galaxy S9 plus. I can say when It worked it was better than the built in mics on these devices. Talking sounded Bassier and more true to life, and the mic didn't seem overly sensitive to direction. Meaning if it was a couple of degrees high or low to the subject I didn't notice huge sound quality reduction. Notice less camera hum and background noise while using it. The problem I ran into is on one of my cameras (Hf R500) the mic didn't work at all whether set to Camera Mode or Phone mode. I don't think this is the Mics fault though, I think it's possible that that camera doesn't have a pre amp in it for the mic and thereby needs one that is powered. That actually does bring me to one of the big advantages this mic has... Running without batteries... I bought a good external mic awhile ago for my YouTube channel but after a few tries I gave up using it. The problem I kept running into was either forgetting to switch the mic on, or the batteries dying... This killed me as I lost hours of footage by doing this... The fact that this mic requires no batteries and just is plug and play is great. I see myself much more likely to use this mic as I don't need to worry about that with it. Otherwise the mic seems okay build quality wise, I wouldn't call it rugged by any means but by itself I could see it handling a few drops but that is mainly because of how light it is. Otherwise if you drop it while attached to a heavy camera which lands a top it, I think chances of something getting snapped is probably pretty high. The fact that this camera includes no amp built in though and the rather simple light design I would hope to see it priced more around $25-30 instead of $40 but that may just be me. One thing to consider is this does sound better than some $80 externals I've played with so I guess it comes down to the price being overall okay but not anything better. One last thing, the first one I got was defective and the company replaced it without issue.

Great mic
I thought that this mic would not be good because it was kind of cheap compared to other ones but to my surprise it is great quality and it sounds amazing it is well built and would definitely recommend

Hot garbage. Don’t buy.
This microphone is garbage. Do not waste your time with it. It doesn’t work on any camera or mixer I have tried it with.

Surprisingly good directionality
The Comica CVM-V30 is exactly what I was looking for - a no-frills, convenient, affordable way to improve audio quality and pick up less of the sounds that you don't want. One of the reasons I chose this one was that it doesn't require any batteries, recharging, or extra wires - just one wire right to the camera, simple as can be. I certainly don't want to review footage only to find that half the audio was lost due to a dead battery! I'm using this on a Sony ZV-1 which works quite well, though it does look Comically (sorry) large. The audio is richer and bassier than the built-in mic. The wind protection seems pretty decent, and could be further improved by putting a deadcat wind cover over top if you plan on a lot of outdoor filming. Possibly the most significant change is that the super-cardioid pattern means the subject sounds clear while voices behind the camera are 2-3 times quieter and more muffled. This is generally great, though if you're narrating anything from behind the camera you'll want a lav mic (which is already a good idea). Overall this is an easy to use way to improve camera audio by a good bit on almost any budget!

Works with all of my cameras!
I was really excited to get this shotgun mic because it looked like it would be compatible with all of my camera sources. The fact that I wouldn't have to worry about charging it was a plus. I provided a video test with all of the cameras I own and remained about 2.5 feet away from each device. Also, keep in mind that I did not adjust the audio volume on any of the clips. Apple iPhone XR- I had to get a dongle to make it work. I used the Audio Adapter with Charger Port for Lightning Devices by Strikeline. I was very pleased with the audio quality. I got rid of most of the reverb in my room. The iPhone XR has directional mics and it okay when using the front facing camera. But when you try to narrate while using the rear camera, forget about it, the mic is not good. This is where the Comica Mic can help me ten folds. Samsung Note 9- It was plug and play with Note 9 because it has a headphone jack. The Note 9 has a omnidirectional mic but problem is the audio can become muffled the father you get away from it. You can hear the muddiness in the video but when connected the Comica Mic, I was amazed at the difference in the play back. Very, very happy! Samsung DSLR (EK-GN100) - Comparing the audio from this DSLR and the Comica, it was hard to choose a winner. They were both good in my opinion. WebCam (Logitech Brio) - If you try to use the Comica shotgun mic directly with your PC, you will be disappointed to know that it doesn't work. You will need to purchase an adapter. If you are going to use it with the toggle on the Smartphone section then you will need a 3.5mm Female to 2 Male Y Cable Splitter. If you are going to use it with the toggle on the DSLR Camera section then you will need to get a 3.5mm extension cable. I noticed that the audio recording was slow so I increased the gains. Here are the steps I took with Windows 10 Operating system: Right click on the sound icon in your task bar-> Choose "Sounds"-> Click on the "Recording" tab-> Right click on the Microphone port your Comica Mic is connected to-> Choose "Properties"-> Click on the "Levels" tab-> Set Microphone to 74 and Microphone Boost to +30.0 dB The Comica hands down beat the audio quality of my Logitech Brio Webcam. I will be using it a lot for voice overs.

Perspective from an audio engineer
I'm an audio engineer by trade. Bought this one and the Rode Videomic go. I am trying to be as cheap as I can so I have more to spend on cameras, (hasn't been working for me so far :-/ ) Anyway, this is essentially the same mic in terms of body, construction and features as the Videomic go. Only difference being the mount. In terms of mount performance, the Videomic go fares better. This one transferred all my taps, bumps etc into the mic. They should've used rubber instead of plastic. Now in terms of audio: The high end / clarity portion of the audio does have directionality to it. Which is the purpose of a shotgun mic - to capture audio from a source that the mic is pointing to. There is a gain in audio levels when the mic is pointed at a subject. But the mid to low end of the audio spectrum enters the mic at almost the same level no matter where the mic is pointing. So basically very little rejection in bass and mids from anything off axis. I found my old audio Technica seemed to perform better. This might still be usable with some audio processing but right off the bat, know that this will capture a lot of audio around the mic. Also, the audio level in the featured video of the girl seems to be low or incorrectly adjusted. I have much more gain connected to my Sony A7iii. Normalizing is not the way to raise audio levels, you will raise the noise floor along with everything else. The cameras have gain control and the mic input supplies power for battery-less mics like this one and Rode Videomic go. Finally the plus, this does capture better quality audio. It is not as high end heavy, lacking in bass, etc. The audio captured is sufficient balanced and easy to work with in post.
