This wire set uses the same 14 gauge standard as Best Connections (Number of strands and strand diameter are the same) AWG is developed for electrical resistance classification of Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) wires. High current application specifying AWG standard assumes the wire is OFC. Same conductor area CCA has higher resistance than OFC making AWG classification invalid. CCA wires are developed for low current applications (e. g. signal processing). As a rule of thumb, reduce CCA gauge size by 2 to achieve similar electrical resistance as OFC wires. Cheap and effective
Wire quality is the same as Audiopipe/Best Connection which means it is somewhat smaller than the AWG standard. They might be using some chinese gauge standard. I like the fact that the strand count and strand diameter are clearly stated by the seller. I checked the strand count, they are accurate. The insulation is very thick and should withstand the weather.Remember this is CCA or copper clad aluminum wire, meaning each strand has an aluminum core with a coating of copper on the surface. For dc and low frequency applications, you probably want to go down a gauge or two to have comparable resistance as OFC wires (oxygen free copper). For high frequency applications in the MHz range, the performance might be comparable due to current crowding at the skin layer.In any case, you cannot beat the price and I'm perfectly happy using them. 16 gauge OFC wire will cost 2-3x more than these 14 gauge CCA wires
