Amazing light, probably unbeatable for the price point!
I cannot say enough good things about this light! First of all, the packaging was perfect. It was wrapped fully in bubble wrap. No directions needed for the clear plastic legs (which are high quality, in my opinion). The light arrived in perfect condition and in good working order. It is a good idea to check all electrical connections and re-seat them to ensure proper function out of the box. This is true with any electrical product that requires different connections to mate up.There is a good write-up on the Planted Tank forums regarding the PAR and PUR this light puts out. To put it simply, this light is impressive for the money! A single one of these will produce medium light at 18", which is fantastic! I've only had this light for a few days, with the amount of light it puts out, if it withstands the test of time, this light is truly unbelievable for the price. The plants are quickly doing noticably better! I use the 36" light on a 40 gallon breeder. I do about 10g of water every Saturday, dose fertilizer on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I did my first water change yesterday (Saturday 9/23/17) since getting this light...and my plants started pearling! They have NEVER done that! It was truly amazing to watch, very mesmerizing!I'm sure you could achieve medium-high or even simply high light if you doubled up on this for those of you doing CO2 injection and growing high demand plants. I don't have any interest in doing that, but medium light is desired. I dose fertilizers, will start an Excel regimen now, etc, but no CO2. I keep some plants with my fish, not some fish with my plants. I would personally not hesitate to purchase this light again (unless Beamswork comes out with an even better one). Will do periodic updates as time goes on to try to document how well this light holds up long term.Update: The 36 inch model on a 40 breeder falls under the "high light" category, in my experience. I started growing a plague of green spot algae, and tried every trick to get rid of it. More flow, bigger, more frequent water changes, really increasing phosphate levels, etc, and the stuff wouldn't go away. Many on the forums have taken to using a dimmer with this light in order to stay "low tech" with great success, eliminating the algae growth and still growing healthy, beautiful plants. The other option is to inject pressurized co2, which is the avenue I went down. Adding co2 and increasing liquid fertilization in the water column and bam, new growth on platns stopped getting eaten by green spot algae.I still love this light and highly recommend it, and feel it definitely deserves the 5/5 stars (where else can you find a "high light" fixture for around $50-$60?!), but be aware of its potential. I can't speak to the really long models on taller tanks, but if you have a 40 breeder or 55/60 gallon tank, purchase a dimmer, raise the light, or add co2. You won't regret it!

Super bright and clean natural light! Never going back to florescent!
AWESOME VALUE!!! You're getting a SUPER nice quality aquarium light for a VERY affordable price! The LEDs are so bright! The plants love it! The profile of this unit is so SLIM and elegant! And it runs very cool: you can hold your hand to the light panel and it's only warm to the touch, so it won't heat up your tank. Also, the LEDs are covered by a thin, flexible layer of plastic, so you can easily wipe it clean and you don't have to worry about bubbles or splash back getting the LEDs wet. It's actually so bright that I decided to put a panel on top of my tank right in front of the light to block the light from shining forward because it can be blinding if you're sitting on the couch at eye-level and you can see up into the LEDs.I also bought the timer unit (highly recommend -- very convenient!) so I am able to selectively turn on/off the addition of the blue LEDs. When you turn it on with all the LEDs, it gives a very bright, full-spectrum light! The addition of the blues make the overall appearance only SLIGHTLY purple, but it's not very obvious and definitely not unappealing. Definitely NOT like a "late night convenience store" feeling. In fact, the slight purple tint make my pink rose quartz stones look more colorful and saturated! So even if you do not choose to get the timer unit for the purpose of turning off the blues, you can still enjoy this beautiful light! That said, if you do want to turn off the blue lights, the light is perfectly white and natural. My tank is moderately-heavily planted and I can tell you that all the plants look PERFECT under the natural white light. With other lights, some plants don't seem to "match colors" with each other because some appear MORE green or UNNATURALLY red compared to each other. But with this light, they all compliment well and none of them look unattractive against each other! If you want to use the timer to turn on the "night light" feature of just the blue LEDs, it's still very bright. The blue is SUPER BLUE like a neon sign, so I actually don't like the look for a night light. I don't use the night light feature even though you can program the blues to come on/off of their own timer with/without the other LEDs. Might be cool for people who like the mood lighting, but I enjoy natural light for my planted nature aquarium. In summary, I love my new aquarium LEDs! Never going back to florescent! Beautiful, bright light! Plants are happy and the tank has never looked better!

Bright light lasted 3.5 years continuous use
Very happy with this light. Very bright for my 60 gallon tall aquarium. Plants did great, highlighted fish colors beautifully. Just burnt out after 3.5 years of continuous use.

Excellent Light
Great light overall. I am on my second one, and it looks exceptional, especially for the price. The first light stopped working after three years, just like others have noted. However, it is not the light that went bad. It is the adapter. I’m currently in search of one so that I have a backup, and I shouldn’t have to buy another light in three years.

Does the job nicely
This is a nice bright light that was used for an African cichlid tank/ It brings out the colors on the fish very nicely.
