Does this cane stand up on its own if you let it go?

Yes it does stand on its own when on a flat surface. I purchased this to replace my bulky quad cane that never folded and it works very well. Pleased with mine

Sorry to be so late with a response. I have no idea if there is a maximum weight the cane will hold. I really like my cane, ordered it because I had trouble finding a cane I liked that was short enough. I'm very short and weight is not an issue. It is very sturdy and strong and easy to carry or hang because it is not heavy.
