but if not it is easy to redo
Bought the repair kit to restore a Franklin crossword solver which was over 10 years old. I'd taken the device to pieces on many occasions and cleaned the membrane keyboard and contacts with improved results, but eventually this only produced a temporary fix. I thought I would try repair kit and carefully followed the instructions, only applying a very thin layer of the conductive paint. Result? Impressive!! All the keys now work with the lightest of touches with no problems. We are keen crossword solvers, so the device has had a lot of use each day over the last 3 weeks, with no apparent reduction in performance. Hopefully this will continue into the future. I think the key to a successful repair is to use a very thin coat, as this will prevevnt surplus paint falling off and shorting the contacts. Update. After a lot of use over the last weeks, the key board has become problematic again in operation. The key for the letter "L" became stuck rendering the keyboard inoperable. I dismantled the device and cleaned paint of the contacts, which restored the key board to functionality. A couple of hours later a second key jammed again rendering the device inoperable. I'll try cleaning the buttons again and perhaps use the emery cloth before I repaint. We'll see if this helps. Hopefully the repair will last a long time, but if not it is easy to redo.

fit for purpose.
If you follow the instructions it works. Not a permanent solution but a good aid to keeping remote controls operating until a proper replacement can be obtained.

Worked when it worked!
The idea of this product is OK, after cleaning the rubber switch pad thoroughly with alcohol and roughing it with emery paper (supplied ) I applied the product as instructed, waited for 24 hours and assembled the remote, it worked fine for a while then stopped, on disassembly I found that the substance had become unattached from the rubber pad, I had two more attempts over a period of days with the same result. Extremely disappointed with the product, if only the material would stay put it would be OK, good conductivity, cannot send it back because I have used quite a bit striving to get it to work.

Excellent, I just followed the instructions.
Comes with detailed instructions so I just unscrewed remote casing and applied a tiny amount to the rubber buttons that wasn't working caused by heavy use. Let it dry over night and put it back together. Worked first time like a new remote. I have heard it can wear off again over time, but its a big tube full so can use it again and again. Really pleased with this. I had bought a new hub and remote before trying this, so we now have two remotes. I wish I had waited as this would have cost much less. I can recommend this stuff.

Meade #497 Handbox works like New
After about 5 years my Meade #497 Handbox started playing up by not registering key presses making the control process very frustrating. I had previously used expensive Silver Conducting Paste but was very disappointing with the results. I decided to try "Remote Restore" which is some kind of Conducting Carbon Paint. The product comes with Cleaning swabs, stirring stick, Wet & Dry to key the Flexi-keyboard Carbon Dots and an Applicator. I followed the instructions cleaning the Flexi-keyboard carbon dots and PCB contacts, then stirring the liquid before applying to the Carbon Dots. The supplied Applicator was perfect to put just the right amount of paint on each Carbon dot. I then left all the Carbon dots to cure for 24 hours. After re-assembling the Handbox I carried out extensive test of all the Keyboard Buttons. The results were impressive and was like using a brand new Remote. "Remote Restore" is not cheap but it has given the £150 Meade #497 Handbox a new lease of life. I am very pleased with this product and have therefore given it a 5 Star Rating. Well worth the money spent.

Got to CLEAN it very well. Read on....
After thoroughly cleaning the keys on my remote control with a spirit based cleaner, I applied a thin layer of this product only to find that when it had dried it just peeled off the keys. I think the product needs a better adhesive. I have talked to the company who supplied it to amazon and they have been very helpful to solve my problem. It must been VERY clean a be ruffed up so that the product can adhere to

Keypad Working Again
Used this product to repair the keypad on the programmable thermostat (Honeywell CM907) on my central heating system. The keypad is the same as ones used on remote controls. After isolating the power supply, I dismantled the programmable thermostat. Then cleaned the underside of the keypad and the contacts on the circuit board (with the alcohol wipes supplied). I applied a spot of conductive paint to the underside of the appropriate buttons on the keypad. Then left to dry for 24 hours. Reassembled the unit and the keypad is now working perfectly. The instructions are supplied and easy to follow. I would recommend this item.
