Great Rod for Fishing
Happy with my purchase. Pole looks to be well made and just installed my new reel on it and can’t wait to take it fishing. Like using Ugly Stik rods. Never had a problem. Would buy from this seller again.

Appears to be high quality.
Haven’t fished with it yet but it’s all setup with my Zebco 33 Platinum reel. The quality is exactly what I expected based on my visual inspection. I have other Ugly Sticks and I really like them. I’ve have them for years.

Very Affordable rods where the Plus may outweigh the minus.
I break a lot of rods and rod tips and in general am fairly hard on my equipment. These are stout rods. I bought the 7 medium one piece and 7 MH 2 piece. Rod top section where the tip can sometimes break appears to be fiberglass 2 inch portion which will make it stronger so we will see. The rods barely pass as bass rods and are more like catfish rods but I am using for bass. I don't seem to see much difference between the one and two piece. The 2 piece MH is fairly stiff and I am using it as a kayak punch rod. The one piece MH is less of a crank bait rod and more of a chatterbait, spinnerbait or large lipless rod which is nice and will be what I use it for. Rod construction is what you expect from ugly. The plus side to the rods is they appear that they will last a long time. The rods are very inexpensive. The minus side is workable but. The rods are very heavy, possibly twice as heavy as the diawa corssfire or shimano sojurn, but only for certain applications. The second nock are the old school foam grips which really weight the rod down and are a bit larger in diameter that the standard cork. This is why it feels like a catfish rod. I have attempted to sand down the grips on one to see if I can get a better feel for a bass rod. If you buy inexpensive rods because you are hard on them and break a bunch. You have found your rod.

Used Ugly Sticks for MANY years...
My wife and I each have several types of Ugly Stick rods for fishing the Inland Saltwater Ways around our Island home. We've used them for decades, and we actually don't use any other type. They simply work for us.

Great Rod
For the record, I'm not an avid fisherman. I'm a weekend warrior. But I have little place on a lake and do a fair amount of fishing. I own 6 Ugly Stiks - four 5 1/2' with pistol grip, one 6' with pistol grip, and this one. I wouldn't recommend it for a high end reel. There are MUCH better and more expensive rods for that purpose. So my 5 star rating is based on similarly priced rods. It wouldn't be fair to compare it against rods costing 10 times as much. But if your reels are more entry or intermediate level, I would certainly give Ugly Stiks a look. I currently use them with 3 Zebco Bullets, a Zebco Omega, a Zebco One Classic, and an old Penn 209. I use them primarily for dock fishing. They are extremely durable. One of them I've had for years. I've never had a bit of trouble with it. They are by far my favorite rod at their price point. I'm not a fan of cork grips. I love the grips on the Ugly Stiks. They just feel right in my hand. The light colored tip on the black rod really makes it stand out when you get a strike. I've caught some decent sized fish on them and have never thought the rod would break. "My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it." - Koos Brandt. Happy fishing!!!
