Great book and story.

This book relies heavily on having recently watched the TV series (which I have on DVD) to be engaging.The main characters as described are cardboard and I do not think I would have bothered to finish reading were it not for the more rounded impression I already have from watching the series.The book is fast-paced but that's about all - dialogue is stilted, descriptions are poor.I won't be buying any more in the series, which is sad because I really enjoyed the TV show and would have liked to be able to revisit the books over many years too.

Excellent buy. Having been a fan of the TV series, these extra books just help to explain those burning questions. Always good to know the beginning and the end of a story - the TV series was like the middle.

Awesome book which shows Max's life before Seattle.

I wasn't sure I'd be interested in a prequel but actually it is pretty good. I'm pleased I bought it.

Watched the TV series loved it and the book. Looking for the next one. Great read. Would definitely recommend it

I expected so much more from this book, I wanted it to feel like the TV series, sadly it doesn't.

this book follows the exploits of max after she escaped manticore right up to just before the show started and she met logan!we get to find out a little more about max's foster family and how she came to be with them, about another one of her maticore siblings(Seth), who she hanged out with , how she came to be a master thief and have an eye for detail for art,antiques etc...how she hooked up with o.c (original cindy).this book really gives you an insight in to max and who she is, how she thinks , feels!
