Sammons Preston Fall Alarm I found it impossible to install the 9v battery, JUNK!
The Sammons Preston Magnet Alarm arrived yesterday. Today I decided to put it to use. The first thing was to install the battery, a 9v battery. I am 74 yrs old & in good health with no hand arthritis. Yet I found it IMPOSSIBLE to install the battery unless I tried to pry it in place using a large screw driver. That would probably have broken the plastic side which would have made returning it impossible. I asked my 42 year old son to give it a try. NOT POSSIBLE. There was a small piece of black foam glued to the back part of the battery compartment. I thought that probably that this foam was keeping the battery from being installed. But if I had cut the foam out I would have damaged the product and would not have been able to return it. Didn’t any one in the company try to fit the battery in place before sending it out for manufacture and sales? All I can tell you is that this product is TOTALLY UNSUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITHOUT GREAT PHYSICAL TO INSTALL THE BATTERY. AND IF YOU THINK I AM PUTTING YOU ON – GO AHEAD AND TRY IT YOURSELF – WITH THE FOAM ON THE BACK END IN PLACE. If that wasn’t enough reason to toss this back to the manufacturer, the hinged clasp is so strong that it was virtually impossible to open and keep it opened up – to facilitate installing the battery. Why would anybody make a product so totally UNFIT FOR USE BY SENIORS or even their grown children. All I can say is that I give this product, which cost less than $22 one star because I can't give it a 0 star. Bottom line: JUNK. UNSUITABLE FOR THOSE WHOSE USE IT WAS INTENDED. Wonder where it was made?

SAFETY shortcoming.
This product is totally inadequate from a safety point of view. The length of the safety line needs to be 2-3 times longer than it really is. I cannot return the unit as the returned date was 8/27/25. I JUST WANT OTHER BUYERS TO BE AWARE OF THIS PRODUCT SHORT COMINGS.

Don't buy this.
Poorly designed, poorly packaged, delivered damaged. Do yourself a favor and find a different product that does the same thing. I wish I had. This design is soooo dumb that the latch mechanism is a practical 'rat-trap' and will smash your fingers when you try to install the battery. The spring is way too strong and the arm is way too long. In addition, the 9V battery that was included was badly dented so it was near impossible to install. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they designed this or how badly it was handled to be able to dent a 9V battery. All-in-all, this product is a LOSER.

A smart 96 yr old will outsmart the system.
Our 96 year old mother has had a series of falls and her balance is severely impaired, but she insists on her independence and will not call for help when she needs to use the bedside commode in the middle of the night. We keep finding her on the floor in the morning, or hearing her fall in the middle of the night. But she is clever enough to undo the attachment clip no matter where we place it. This did not work for us, because the patient is too clever. We will try the under-the-mattress motion detection alarm next.

cover doesn't close properly
could not get the cover to close properly. Send both the original purchase and the replacement in the same box for a refund. I should receive the $20.00 I originally paid for the monitor. You only refunded me for shipping cost. What gives.

Help! I cannot load the battery. The compartment seems to be too small.
I'm putting the battery in correctly but it just won't snap down. Should I remove the foam block at the base?
