So much information and easy to follow instructions. I am really impressed and would be happy to recommend to anyone starting out.

A comprehensive guide to square foot gardening. Although some information is more or only applicable to North America, if read with this in mind, the system described is easy adapted to other regions. I liked the “In Mel’s Words” inclusions and the range of sub-topics covered. I can recommend this book for all gardeners regardless of experience, some traditionally trained horticulturalists like myself may have to challenge there opinions on managing soil, but once embraced you will enjoy just how easy this innovative gardening method is!

It has helped me start growing our own fruit n veg without being too technical.and shows how to save money.suitable for all levels of experience.

I live in Australia and had not heard of this system until a friend in California told me about it. I was intrigued so ordered the latest (3rd) Edition. It is so full of interesting information and tips, I think any gardener, new or old, would gain something from it. I have only gone about a third of the way into it so far, but as far as I can tell it covers every aspect of getting a productive and efficient vegetable garden up and running. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

What an excellent book! I've been growing vegetables doing a version of SFG for 2 years in my raised beds, now but now I have all the necessary information to further enhance my Summertime harvest! It is a well-written book with plenty of supporting photos and diagrams. Just as I read one section and am thinking "yeah but what about (say) peat moss?" I turn the page and it is as if they've been reading my mind! There's the chapter referring to peat moss (and all-important substitutes for it in SFG). There are full descriptive with clear photos on how to build simple square foot garden beds, raised versions and the all-important grids! But you don't NEED to build wood structures either. They provide a list of alternative grid solutions that are all very affordable ,easy to do and are even collapsible for winter storage if you prefer! I bought a "used" book to try to save a bit of money and it is like NEW. The only thing I'd change is to make it spiral-bound, and I k ow that IS available but it is Al.ist $20 more for that version. Easier to turn pages though, in spiral-bound form.
