Easy setup
Received my new HP Envy 6100e yesterday. I bought this particular printer because my sister has the same one and she has been happy with it. It was easy to set up and runs very nicely so far. The first print job I sent to this printer came out great, nice, clear printing. Nice printer for the price. Not sure about its durability, but it should suit my needs.

Don't Buy HP Any Longer!
I have ordered a replacement for this printer...NOT a HP. The printer's description from the seller was false and included info that was incorrect and sounded intentionally misleading. The Instant Ink plan (3 months free) is a total SCAM and HP should be ashamed to even do this to their customers. When you register your printer you are automatically signed up for Instant Ink. Within a few days you are mailed two ink cartridges. When I called HP and asked why they were already sending me ink, I was told they were my freebies that came with my printer. I said thank you and hung up. I automatically went to the Instant Ink login to see how to cancel this program. It gave me the option to opt out of the program after the three months that was free...so I did. Guess what I didn't order any new cartridges because I had two free ones...yeah right. This all happened at the end of May. So almost exactly 3 months and a few days later, the black ink in my original cartridge ran out and I replaced it with my "free" Instant Ink gift. As soon as I did I started receiving messages on the printer screen that there was a problem with my account and if I didn't correct it then my printer would stop printing...yes you have to hook it up to the Internet to get it to work. So I called and asked what is going on...by the way I had gone to the HP site and once again cancelled the Instant Ink plan. At HP support I was met by insults, gross misunderstanding, not listening...talking over me when I was trying to ask my questions, and a disturbing lack of knowledge or understanding. I got mad and I was MAD...I screamed over him since he didn't think I should talk, I called the company a few choice words and threw him in there as well...nothing about his race or color by the way...just to be plain. I asked multiple times to speak to a supervisor or manager...which he ignored, just kept telling me I was at fault. I finally hung up and called right back. I would like to say I got a young lady that was very pleasant and immediately put me to a supervisor. And to make this 30 minute conversation smaller he agreed that the only way to get my printer printing was for me to pay the Instant Ink subscription...even though I had bought plain old HP cartridges and was willing to put them in...which I did finally as a last try to get it printing again. But, he did finally say he would have a manager call me but I should be able to print until one did in two to four business days...which would be not earlier than 4 days away because this was on a Friday afternoon. Shortly after I went to print and once again got the message about updating my account and the printer would not complete the print job. I called again...I got another totally rude man and hung up. In about 10 minutes HP called me and a man said he was to help me clear up this problem...I had to allow them to access my smart phone, and yes it had to be a smart phone he said, to take a picture of the cartridges in the machine...which I did with mass objections. He said oh yes you finally understand you can't use OUR cartridges...which I bite my tongue because I just wanted my printer to print. He wanted remote access to my computer...I said no so he had me check some settings and print one page which printed just fine. He had me turn off the printer and reboot and print another page which said it was sent to the printer but had not started to print. As soon as I said it was sent to the printer...he said thank you for calling HP and everything should be fine now and hung up. It took over three more minutes for the screen to tell me that I needed to check my account and printing would be stopped on this printer. I am totally disappointed in HP...this company has always been my go to computer manufacturer. My first computer was a Hewlett Packard back before the powers that be thought it was cooler to be called HP and maybe to lose the "cheap" computer rep. I have owned one more desktop and two laptops. I have owned multiple Hewlett Packard printers and several more HP printers. But I have owned my last HP anything. It's not the printer...it works well but the customer service. I have never been treated like this after I purchased a company's product. I have never been reduced to screaming and cursing at a customer service tech...yes I've had heated conversations with techs before but to scream and curse at them...no I have not. I usually can make myself perfectly clear by talking firmly and asking for a supervisor...neither worked with HP support. I am ashamed of having supported this brand for so long to have it turn into the company it obliviously has.

Just read the reviews!!
I read the reviews prior to purchasing and I know and see the complaints about HP+ and Instant Ink, but for me it’s convenient.. I used an HP 2655 for around five years, it was recently in an accident and the entire scanner shattered leaving shards of glass inside of the printer. When I had to replace it I was looking for a duplex printer that was smaller in size and an all-in-one. This had everything I wanted, the size was great and the majority of the reviews had me sold on it. I purchased it and unboxed it only to find the instructions to tell me to download an app to finish the setup. It’s so aggravating that everything takes a smart phone now to setup, but I’ll come back to that later.. So after downloading an app I got the printer hooked up to the WiFi, and then I was forced to create an HP account and then I had to sign up for HP+ and Instant Ink before I could even print the first thing… ANNOYING! And then I realized how convenient that it will be to have ink AND paper delivered right to my mailbox and it’ll automatically come out of the bank.. I will say my only downfall was choosing between 300 and 700 pages per month, but I’m glad I can change the plans whenever l want to so I won’t overpay if and when I go over. The app is honestly super impressive! I am not so annoyed now that I’ve used it, only because this is going to make my life a lot less complicated in the long run. I love to scan and print pages from my curriculum workbooks, using the app was such an experience because it auto adjusts the pages to be upright and perfect and when you do choose to crop it the movement and corner angles are so awesome to work with! The HP app has a scan cloud (WOO!) so this means I won’t be rescanning the page when I choose to go back over the lesson again. The scan speed is slow but for great reason! The printer speed is pretty quick, but I will say I had multiple pages feed me empty sheets behind prints.. but overall the quality of each print is as expected! No paper jams so far, I think I’ve printed 40 pages today total and the printer didn’t throw any errors. Setting it up was a pain in my A! The alignment failed the first time, but told me the printer setup was complete. When I went to do my first print I was thrown “Setup Incomplete” on the printer screen and I couldn’t figure out what happened. After going back in and redoing the whole setup again that’s when I realized the alignment was what caused it to stall. I have zero issues with the wireless connectivity because it’s so close to our router. Paired up with my Lenovo AIO IdeaCentre 5 27IMB05, I did have to download HP to the computer first though. I think it is a great price considering everything it does, and I don’t think the Instant Ink subscription is as horrible as I initially thought that it would be.. I’m still on my three month trial but I don’t expect to cancel unless the printer gives me major problems before then.

Works great now, but didn’t realize that you cannot buy the ink anywhere else. You are forced into having a monthly plan. Setup took way too long. Works great though. Wondering when my next ink will arrive.

This all-in-one printer is easy to set up and delivers sharp prints for both documents and photos. Scanning and copying are quick and efficient. Its wireless features work flawlessly across devices, and instant ink subscription ensures I never run out. Compact, efficient, and dependable—ideal for home or small office use.

I purchased this printer at the end of 2024. Initially, it worked fine, including the feature to scan and send documents directly to an email address. However, just two months later, this feature stopped working. I contacted customer service and was told that my printer doesn’t even have that feature — which it absolutely does. I followed their instructions for hours, but nothing changed. Despite being subscribed to the Instant Ink service, I never received a single ink delivery. When I contacted customer support about it, the issue was supposedly too complex. The agent suddenly stopped responding in the middle of the chat — this happened three times. I then tried calling. Over the phone, I was told to go through the same steps again, which took several hours. They gave me a specific date and time for a follow-up call — but no one ever called back. Eventually, I called them again myself. After a full hour of explanation, I was finally able to initiate a replacement process. In total, it took a month and a half, with five separate weekday calls, each lasting hours. The replacement unit eventually arrived, and so did the ink — but then, three separate ink shipments arrived within two weeks. Since Instant Ink cartridges are disabled after the subscription ends, all the extras are now useless trash. ⸻ 🔧 Company Issues: Chat Support: At first, agents greet you politely, but after some time, they stop responding and never come back. Even when you explain your situation thoroughly, they ignore everything and just stick to the script. Saying you’ve already done the same steps before makes no difference. Phone Support: Same scripted responses, even on the phone. They promise to call back — but they don’t. It’s just another empty excuse. Customer Management: Even though one ink cartridge would have been enough, they sent three in two weeks. This wouldn’t happen if customer records and responses were properly managed and shared. Subscription Problem: Even if there’s ink left in the cartridge, once the subscription ends, you can’t use it anymore. This is a deliberately unfair system. ⸻ ❌ Final Thoughts: If something goes wrong, getting proper support is almost impossible. I deeply regret purchasing from this company, and I’ve since bought and started using a different printer from another brand.
