The listed weight (136g) for the 8x and 10x is the same - is this correct?

I have the 10x, which weighs on my scales at 141g without case and 162g with case

what is the veiwing distance? is it good for looking out to sea?

It will focus to infinity and the closest focus is a few metres. If you intend to look at passing ships, or birds, I would get a pair of 10x binoculars with 40-50mm lenses
