An outstanding product
While I was researching for the most capable (and affordable) Blu-Ray player that would enhance the performance of my LaserTV Projector and ALR screen, the Panasonic DP-UB20EB was the obvious choice. Its 4K high-precision Chroma Processor produces outstanding colours, bringing natural images to the screen. The images are vibrant with exceptional detail, creating a visually immersive experience! I was pleasantly surprised at the rich quality produced by the automatic upscaling of Blu-Ray (HD) content. Even some basic DVD discs resembled high-definition. The player made my projector’s Dolby Atmos sound richer and more captivating than ever before! I was particularly excited about the bass as it is now much clearer and well-defined. Furthermore, the ‘Dialog Enhancer’ feature makes it easier to hear speech without needing to raise the volume too high. Though the player’s Remote Control works well, I replaced it with the Panasonic DP-UB9000 Remote Control (bought separately) as I preferred its layout and it has a backlight for use in a dark room. Admittedly, the Panasonic DP-UB20EB is a considered purchase, if you are on a budget. But after assessing its overall amazing picture and sound quality, upscaling capabilities, HDR processing, and its smooth, uninterrupted playback, I can only conclude that this award-winning product delivers as promised. This beast offers sensational performance and I can confidently recommend it.

The Panasonic DP-UB150 is THE very best 4K player
Believe me when I say this - the Panasonic DP-UB150 is THE very best affordable 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player on the market. This was the first player I bought for 4K viewing, and can confirm that is by far the best. Playback is both solid and reliable, so you can purchase with confidence. The player is nice and compact too. Remote is also of good size and quality, and always responsive. Playability is phenomenal. The picture & sound quality are second to none. Really quite impressive. I've tried and tested the model which come along after this one, and it wasn't a patch on the DP-UB150. Oh, and Panasonic 4K players beat Sony's efforts, hands down (my Sony 4K player barely lasted a month before it packed up working!). The Panasonic DP-UB150 is recommended 100% 👌 Picture Quality ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Sound ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Overall rating ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Good alternative to the Oppo, but it's no Oppo.
Well, even Oppo isn't Oppo anymore, and that's sad for us enthusiasts, but I purchased this Panasonic to take its place. It does come close, but there's one or two things which really make it feel cheap. Whilst others might have more esoteric critique, I just have 2 issues with the unit. Now, it's a GOOD player. Possibly fantastic at this price point, but the two areas it lacks really spoil it for me, though there's possibly nothing better on the market in the sub-£500 range to beat it. 1) It can be quite noisy to start up when reading and caching / chapter searching a disk. The Oppo was practically silent at this, as well as fast. Now, whilst the Panasonic is fast, it certainly isn't silent, and reminds me of my old floppy disk drives as it grinds and creaks its way to playback. It just sounds cheap. 2) This is a big problem for me : I watch movies piecemeal, and often pause them - sometimes for days - before resuming from the precise moment I paused whenever I want. This is a much more convenient way of resuming playback than the playback-resume function authored (if you're lucky!) into the disks themselves, which often requires a lot of waiting-time as the disk is reloaded, the obligatory anti-piracy and warning pages endured (which you can't skip through), and then after a few minutes you get to resume what you were watching. And of course, if the disk WASN'T authored with a resume function, you have to go searching, and typically this will involve re-watching from the beginning of the last chapter you think you stopped at (if you can remember!). The Panasonic does NOT pause like an Oppo. After 5 minutes of being on pause, the unit automatically shuts down, even if eco-mode and auto shutdown are both disabled. As of writing this review, there's no way to avoid this in the settings. It's done I believe because the pause is not actually disengaging the laser, but is continuously running it live, and thus creating a risk of burnout. It's a safety feature, but the truth is it's a software kludge intended to overcome a design flaw which shouldn't be there in the first place. However, all of the above being said, once the player gets going and does what it's supposed to do (play your DVD's Blu Rays and 4k UHD HDR content), its picture and audio quality is OUTSTANDING. At its present price point, I'm considering it a stop-gap measure to fill the void between my old Oppo and the next gen of high end players, but IF I can get used to its shortcomings, I may just learn to love it. This is high audio and videophile praise, folks so make of this what you will!

Best 4K UHD Player under £900
Great 4k Ultra HD Blue Ray Player. I returned the recommended Sony player as it didn't have Wifi and the sound quality was terrible. This machine although £100 more expensive has almost everything you could possibly want, picture and sound quality are excellent, it has wifi for upgrades and YouTube, Netflix etc. It upscales older disks and even plays my 3D Blue Rays perfectly. One criticism is that it doesn't have an optical sound output so cannot be connected directly to my Hifi without buying an extra converter box for the second HDMI output. Highly recommended as the next best player is over £900!

Really nice
Just taken delivery, easy to follow on screen quick set up. Good quality machine and remote control, excellent picture and sound without having to change anything in different menus. Scans and recognises your TV and even a different brand of TV remote control then can control the player.

Excellent player
Excellent player, easy to set up and useful USB support for movie playback. 4k visuals look great. Remote quality questionable and when I first set it up the tray was opening and closing and wouldn’t respond (remote buttons can get stuck down!!) Easy to plug in and get going and easy to use , great value and better than having to remove discs from my Ps5!

Excellent 4K Blu Ray Player but can have problems.
Got this to replace a Sony player I sent back as it froze and locked up during the first movie I played, Aliens. So I got this player and have played a load of 4k movies. Every movie has played flawlessly. If your looking fir a 4k player forget the cheaper models this is the player to get. Player is nice and heavy the Sony player was so light and plasticky. This has a solid remote and a screen counter which most don't nice to be able to see how long is left without having to use your remote. Got this with £50 off so very happy. Hope I get as many years from this as my last machine. Update 10/12/24 Unfortunately after just over a month this player has started to glitch. A lot of discs the sound will drop out for a couple of seconds but now it's full on picture breaking up and no sound at just around the 40 minute mark so having to return. Have read online that quality control on these can be a bit hit and miss and people have had to replace this player a couple of times before getting a good one. Will order another once I receive refund and hopefully will be second time lucky.

Great player for the price.
For the price this has to be the one of the best 4k disc players around. It will decode Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It has no smart features. But if you're buying a 4k player you must already have a smart TV anyway. The remote seems rather cheaply made, and there isn't a WIFI function, you need to hard wire it to your router/modem, But maybe thats how they keep the price low. Fairly standard size for a disc player. The menus are pretty basic, but functional. Very easy to plug in and set up. I had to reorder it as the first one arrived with the packaging damaged and as a result the outer case of the player was damaged. Got a full refund and reordered it.
