This book is just awesome not only for kids and pre teens but for people of all ages, even adults. The activities in it are so fun to do, especially the 'complete your comics' and 'make your own comics' is the best part of the book. It's been a month I'm doing the book and I haven't yet completed it, came across an astonishing game called 'make your own tournament' and I just enjoyed doing that activity today. It even has amazing coloured comics to read plus 'make your own cover and story'. It has empty pages in the end to write the story of your life which is great since I'm going to make a memoir of my life and put it on those pages. The book color and price is great. The fact that it comes in hardcover now is great too. Just loved and enjoyed drawing and coloring in this book so far. Very therapeutic. The best activity book, I've ever come across with. It's very addictive too, one day I got so engrossed in the book, I didn't notice the time, it was past my bed time and it was 3:30 am in the night, I mean morning and I closed the book fast and went to sleep in a hurry. So overall the "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid - Do It Yourself" book is super fun and you will never get bored with it. I guarantee you. Go ahead and buy this book, you won't regret it, it's worth your money !!!! :-) :^D

Die deutsche Ausgabe ist schon für jüngere Leser geeignet, doch bei dem Original braucht man doch einigermaßen solide Englischgrundkenntnisse, um Spaß an den Aufgaben zu haben. Vom Niveau her ist das Buch auch problemlos für 12-14-jährige geeignet, wenn halt noch die Hürde der Fremdsprache dazu kommt. Das Buch ist eine lustige Mischung aus Doodle-Vorlagen, bei denen man Comics betexten, zu Ende führen oder ganz selbst gestalten kann, Fragelisten mit teils ernst gemeinten, teils spaßigen Aufgaben (man kann z.B. seine Zukunft erwürfeln und endet dann z.B. als Clown in einem Iglo und hat zehn Kinder), Kreativaufgaben wie Regeln für die Familie erfinden, eine Band gründen, Songtitel, Poster und Tourbus entwerfen, einen Urlaub planen, den lustigsten Witz, den man kennt, aufschreiben, ein T-Shirt gestalten, aufschreiben, was man auf eine einsame Insel mitnehmen würde und welche Dinge über einen selbst so wichtig sind, dass man sie sich notiert für den Fall, dass man mal unter Gedächtnisschwund leiden sollte usw. Am Ende gibt es noch die Anregung, selbst eine Minibiographie über sich selbst zu schreiben und zu bebildern, ähnlich wie Greg über sich und seine Familie berichtet. Ob man das Eingetragene dann lieber ganz für sich behält (und Eltern dies auch akzeptieren und nicht immer wieder nachhaken "Was hast du denn geschrieben?") oder ob man das Buch mit Freunden teilt, andere fragt, was sie denn geantwortet hätten, bleibt dann jedem selbst gelassen. Ein tolles Buch für kreative Kids, das sicher eine ganze Weile für Spaß und Beschäftigung sorgt. Bei der englischen Ausgabe kommt noch dazu, dass man so recht spielerisch den Alltagswortschatz der Muttersprachler besser kennen lernt und vertieft.

I m not happy I buy it for my boy and There are traces of gum. Someone has already used this book. It's not right to make people believe it's new. I'm very disappointed.

This extention of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is absolutely BRILLIANT and I want to personally thank Jeff Kinney and if it wasn't his own idea, whoever in his life or at the publishing house came up with the concept of a journal tie in with the series. One of the reasons the the Wimpy Kid series is so popular, besides the first person kid narration and boy appeal stories, is the mix of visuals (cartoons/doodles) that make the book easy and appealing to a young reader. It also provides visual imagery that kids who may have low reading comprehension have difficulty processing on their own. I also like that it's a series of vignettes that tie into an overarching plot. This is also more palatable to a young reader. Now take that concept and turn it into a way for a young child to dabble in journaling and self expression and you've got a marvelous tool for teaching and life experience. My oldest son (turning 9) has autism. He loves the Wimpy Kid series and I'm guessing it's because of the reasons described above. The Do-It-Yourself version has sparked his interest in self expression and given him tools to help develop his skills in written expression. The check lists, fill in the blanks, fill in the bubble comics make it fun and provide a structure in an area that is difficult for him. The blank journal at the back gives him space to dabble in writing whatever he feels. It's personalized and fun AND a great educational experience. I highly recommend this series and if your child takes to the series, get them this Do-It-Yourself kit.

This Wimpy Kid series is always a top favorite of my kids.
