A First Book of Fairy Tales

excellent collection of popular fairy tales. what makes it outstanding is the story is supported by beautiful drawings which promote learning. the stories are just the right length. perfect for bedtime read aloud to kids ( in the 3 - 5 year age group) but may not hold the interest of children who can read by themselves.

Good book

The media could not be loaded.  Good quality and attractive pages.Contains 14 fairy tales,all famous and favourite one.Illustration is great and attractive for kids.Go for it if you are getting a discount.

A pretty okay book with pretty pictures but some of these fairy tales are questionable and downright disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone below 12.There are lots of pictures and illustrations that I thought were strange. For example, in ‘The Little Mermaid’, the drawing of the ‘good’ princess is white skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes and the ‘bad’ princess is dark skinned with dark hair. Some other drawings in the same story show some nudity or implied nudity which I think is inappropriate for children.Also, a lot of these fairy tales have very dark and disturbing origins and back stories, so do your research before introducing this to your little ones.

It was purchased as a gift for a little girl who was more than happy with it.

We should believe in fairy tales. This is one kind hope. Hope that springs eternal. Love all the fairy tales.

Achei que era capa dura e mais grosso, mas o livro em si é bem trabalhado.

Maravilhoso! Eu pensei que fosse capa dura ( o que não é), mas não perde nada por isso. Tem ilustrações lindas em todas as páginas, o texto é bem legível. Enfim, maravilhoso.

Un libro genial para niños que empiezan a saber un inglés sencillo. Están muy bien las ilustraciones.

Got this for my 3 year old daughter, it arrived and looked ok on first sight, but when I read this to her at bedtime the stories are really short one of them is only 2 pages long and is just pure rubbish. The stories are written in an old fashioned way with them making no sense at all to my daughter I'm having to replace old fashioned sayings with modern variations for her to understand the stories plus the illustrations are quite creepy and my daughter was scared of a few of them. I ended up shelving this book permanently and bought her 365 bedtime stories and rhymes published by paragon, it's a wonderful book with really nice illustrations it's written in modern English BUT it's American English so some words are spelt differently compared to UK English literature. It cost me £2 more and was worth every penny I've included and image in case your interested in buying that instead of this rubbish.
