This bag is made with typical oxford style nylon fabric. Everything that I have tested that is made with this material is usually water resistant but never fully waterproof. As long as it's limitations are observed then you will not need to worry about it too much. I personally would encase the pack in a dry sack.The strap system is not bad with plenty of adjustment so I was able to get the pack sitting correctly although I was not to keen on how the straps connecting to the bottom of the back plate section wrapped around my body. I will probably get used to it.The bag itself is decent with a magnetized flap for the binos pouch, an external pocket with one of those fake waterproof sealed zips. I know it is fake because I tested under the tap for three seconds and the pocket was wet inside. So do not trust it with your phone or anything like that.I have yet to find a 'Made in China' item that says it has waterproof zips and actually does so. Although to be fair CURMIO only state 'water resistant'. But a failed three second water test is a leak!It was not for the failed water test I would have given the bag an extra *.As it is though, could be useful in good weather.
