Smart Lock + Connect, Silver

I was worried about putting on a lock taking off the lock of an old door and it’s not going back but this was so easy to do. Instructions were very clear and it is so much fun to play with push a button and the door unlocked. it’s like the 21st century.

Great smart lock and installs easily. Connection and setup was easy, and fast. Having the hub is a no brainer as you can control the lock from anywhere you have an internet connection, and you can tell if the door is open or shut, locked or unlocked. Great way to permit emergency access when you are not around.

Great for not having to use your keys. Easy to install.

Originally bought a lock that didn’t come with the little WiFi plug in because we have several already and didn’t realize you couldn’t attach more than one lock to the WiFi device. So I returned that one and ordered this one. We have a back door that has a glass window with trim around it so we needed a super slim lock to go there. By the measurements on the description it should have fit with about 1/4-1/2” to spare… which it does AFTER it’s installed. Unfortunately I forgot that all of our other August locks attach to the mounting bracket with little wing clips that flare out from the sides about an inch. With them flared out you then align the lock over the mounting bracket and then close the wings back in to lock it in place. My measurement did NOT account for the little wings. We needed an automated lock for the door regardless and this was the slimmest one I could fine so I resolved to try and turn the mounting bracket as far sideways as possible to give more room for the wing clips. The clip still grazed the top of the trim but I was able to force it in place with only a small dent made on the trim when I was trying to force it. If it hadn’t worked I had decided I would just notch the trim. But I didn’t end up needing to do that. Once the wing clip was locked in I slightly rotated the whole lock to the upright position and everything works great. The device is only slightly lose because of how I had to have the mounting bracket loose enough to slide sideways. But it doesn’t wiggle on its own or anything. I’m super excited that i let worked out and I didn’t cause a crazy amount of damage to the trim or have to notch it completely. The reason I only gave 4 stars is I wish I had known/remembered about the wings. I wish they were shorter so I could have locked in place without any issues.

This smart lock is AWESOME! Since installing I’ve never had to use my keys to lock or unlock my apartment door. Installation was super easy! Like seriously dumb proof! One thing to underline here is that the bridge does need to be placed like right next to the smart lock. What I did was just use a long extension cord and place the bridge right beside the door. Otherwise this product is dope! I have the settings to automatically lock the door after two minutes while I’m home. Then when I leave, the lock automatically locks when I drive away. Also for all you renters out there, this is 100% rental friendly!
