A great series just gets better!
I've read all these books and am reading them again. The world lost a great writer when Vince died. The man who took over isn't half the writer Flynn was. He's taken Mitch where Mitch would never have gone. I read the first 3 with the new writer and then gave up.One reason I love this series so much is, well, it's nice to see the people who hate us and attack us, America and Americans, get punished! The war on terrorism will never end and it's nice to see America win just once in a while!Enjoy!

The best!
This is the second time I’ve read Consent to Kill. I’ve read all of Flynn‘s books, including the ones of Kyle Mills. They are very good. I’m reading them again,in order, thank you both authors.

A very worthy addition to the series
If you don't read the books in order, Vince Flynn (RIP) summarizes what you need to know with each new book. Still, reading them in order helps with understanding character development. (But understand that "American Assassin" is really the first book, although it was written later.)Vince Flynn's approach is heavy on understanding how politics can go wrong, and moral issues involving killing, etc. Of course, this is handled in a very readable way in the plot.Flynn does teach you about the world, but Brad Thor has much more emphasis on describing places that you probably don't know much about and their history. Jack Carr follows Thor's approach to a large extent, but throws in more information about weapons and equipment. This particular book is one of my favorites in the series.

...all-time favorite Vince Flynn Mitch Rapp book!
Book Review - My favorite Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp novel is Consent to Kill. This book is classic action drama as Mich Rapp is out to settle a score against terrorists with consent from the president. It is tight writing, dramatic drama and fast pace action all tied into a tight knot. I don't always want to read business books or serious literature, so this book served as great ‘brain candy’ which is why I am hooked on Mitch Rapp. Once again Vince Flynn has provided an excellent backdrop of two storylines with Mitch Rapp smack dab in the middle of everything. This time he has a personal vendetta as well as a ‘consent to kill’ the bad guys - the terrorists. One thing readers should know is that Consent to Kill is Flynn’s longest (thickest) book - 465 pages! Somehow, Flynn managed to make each one of his novels different, not just a rehash of the previous terrorist/assasin a$$-kicking book but a new and exciting action thriller. He abandoned the unspoken rule about not killing off other major players and he managed to keep each plot fresh with new twists and various turns. His books are rarely predictable because the details in each book changes, leaving the reader feeling like each book is their first Flynn/Rapp rendition. Flynn also repeats many of the main characters in each book, leaving the reader with a feeling that they know everyone in the series. I highly recommend Consent to Kill for both avid fans and newbies. There is always enough mention of prior books to make the series completely understandable and enjoyable but not overly repetitious. Again, Consent to Kill is my personal favorite because it literally was one of Vince Flynn’s best pieces of work...! RIP Vince...! Mitch is still on watch!

Silence does not imply consent. But off the record does.
I've been reading the Mitch Rapp series out of order. I started out with its middle child - Memorial Day, and then I read his newest one - American Assassin. Compared to both of those, the amount of action in Consent to Kill is quite small, but what he lacks in action he makes up for with an extremely compelling style of storytelling and general substance. It's a long book for sure, page length is about the same but the font and spacing is just a wee bit smaller than the others. But if you're going to illustrate the bad guy's chain of command and then the journey of the assassin gunning for Rapp, what else are you going to do?The reason this is only 4 stars and not 5 is because of Rapp's operation in the beginning. It was a nice short little op where he took out a terrorist and created a publicity stunt but my problem is that it hardly had to do with the rest of the book. It helped a small bit in angering some of the higher-ups in Washington but let's face it - Rapp is never really concerned about that, nor should he be. I understand that the op was needed in order to give a brief description of Rapp's competence in the field in order to make the book more stand-alone but it would have been nice if it was tied in a bit more with the rest of the story. Perhaps this person he killed was a close friend to Prince Rashid, which prompted him to actually make Rapp's death a high priority. But that part is no more than 30 pages of the 550 page book, so whatever. But with the rest of the story, what compelled me the most about it was that Flynn wrote how seriously the bad guys took this assignment and he really stressed the urgency of success or total failure - that if they failed at killing Rapp, he would hunt them down and destroy them, and he could do it. He beat the concept so hard, I started to get less and less convinced of it, but now I understand that it was his point all along because when Rapp sprung into action, that just made it all the better. I also really like how the pace of the book got faster and faster and faster, and the ending was also very appealing. All in all, definitely a book worth reading if you're a fan of the Mitch Rapp series. I would not recommend this being the first book to read in the series, but definitely a great addition.- V

The author goes too far with this one.
I have enjoyed all the Mitchell Rapp series up to this point. However the murder of his beloved wife Anna as part of the storyline has disgusted me beyond measure. I have a red line when I read novels by an author, or see a movie, and that is the murder of wives lovers and children as a plot device goes beyond that line, as it did with the movie “Shooter” when right at the end his wife gets her brains blown out just as they are embracing to celebrate success. I don’t really care that I’m spouting spoilers here. I think this started for me many years ago when I witnessed James Bond’s brand new bride killed by a sniper just as they are about to leave on their honeymoon. I was upset and revolted and still remain so regarding “ that” film, as I read books or go to the cinema to be entertained and uplifted. Not to be upset or nauseated. I shall not be reading any more books by Vince Flynn. Period.

Consett to Kill
It must be an unwritten rule to make an unloved character loveable just before you kill them off.Anna Reilly was by most readers posts unlocked, dull and a distraction. Then she seems to be better and she is written out. It makes the rest of the novels easier to write without a limiting factor like child and wife. This book is excellent, giving multi faceted points on politics, espionage and international relations and banking. Anyone with a brain must know not to try and kill Rapp. But it did make it a great revenge thriller.

Fantastic, heart warming, tears an emotional journey to the end. A must read.
Very unexpected turn of events throughout this book, I have read all of the previous books and thoroughly enjoyed them all.Consent to Kill started of with Mitch Rapp's life being near perfect with a happy end in sight. His only problem being the new Director of Intelligence or so it seems but as it continues the threat is made and a "bounty" is placed on his head a whopping $22 million in all. A brilliant book, well written twists and turns all the way throughout, an emotional rollercoaster of a story. A must read, can be read as a stand-alone book, but I feel having read the series, you will find the emotional impact and the I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HAS JUST HAPPENED a very powerful tool in Vince Flynn's writing.SPOILER,Pregnancy for Anna Rapp and the hopes and dreams you want for them all changes in a split second and she and the unborn child are killed an Mitch survives and has to grieve once again for the love of his life and the future that no longer exists. Kennedy is told by the powers of the Cabinet members to stop him avenging his wife's death but the President later tells her Mitch has his consent to Kill anyone who is involved. The assassin's are brilliantly written with the background in the story as it unfolds and at each step of the main characters you find out what their doing parallel to the others.Claudia then finds she is pregnant too but is unaware that Anna is an asks Gould to spare her. He doesn't and they in turn split with her telling all and asking for the time to have her baby and be able to hold him or her. Gould returns and she has to tell him this, unsure of his reaction. It ends with Rapp finding them an their newly born daughter named Anna.Read and you will definitely be in tears throughout this book.Strongly recommend that this is a book to read, maybe one of the best. Can't wait to find out what else is in store for Mitch Rapp.

Review
It has become almost habit that the character Mitch Rap gets the reader so involved in the story that it is sad when one gets to the end of the story. This book was so full of incidents that one would have loved the story to continue a little bit longer. I'm off to get the next title in the series.
