These work great and seem to be a lot safer than actual flame, though they could still ignite flammable items so you should still use caution. You slide the "safety" switch (on/off switch) and press the button to start it. Hold it to the wick for a couple of seconds and voila! Flame! My only complaint is that the color is not even close to how it looks in the picture. It is a pale blue, not cobalt. I don't like any of the other colors better, so I'm not going to bother with the hassle of returning it.

Easy to use and works well

Was apprehensive about purchasing an electric arc lighter as I had never used one before. Excellent lighter!!! We use it to light candles, gas grill, and our fireplace. Really like being able to recharge and use over and over. Go out and get one for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

They took great care to ensure that you can't tell that the charger is the old interior micro USB and not USB-C. Granted, it's not too big of a deal, especially since it comes with the (short) two required cables, but worth mentioning. Now, performance. It lights a candle quite well. It can light a piece of cardboard in a fireplace to start a camp or stove fire. I don't know how well it would work on a BBQ but I imagine with it and lighter fluid, you shouldn't have any problems. When you activate the button, you can see the spark between the poles at the top. Don't put your fingers in these. Instead, place your candle wick, or piece of paper if you're lighting a fire, and press the button. Voila!! Your item ignites and you get a nice candid, some wonderful smelling incense, or a nice beach fire.
