The Momo Prototipo is a perfect wheel for your vintage automobile. Thin, light, great tactile feel, and wonderful visibility for your gauges. I put this on today and felt compelled to come out to the garage this evening just to sit in the car and enjoy how damn good this looks. Beautiful. Classic. Better than the original. It was super easy to install with the correct adapter. I can’t wait to get out on the road. Simply amazing!

Perfect high quality

Not only did this wheel fade to this greenish color in 6000 miles but the texture has changed as well. Yes, it’s in a convertible car but it’s garage kept when not driven. I’ve had Momo products before and quality is usually very good. However, this fading is unlike anything I’ve seen on any steering wheel I’ve had in 30yrs. I feel like there’s a defect in the materials or process. I’ve tried to contact Momo directly and also the seller but have had no response other than on Momo’s Instagram page. They directed me to the Amazon seller and never answered my question directly as to whether or not there’s a warranty for this fading. Still waiting to hear from the seller. It has been a little over a year so there’s probably nothing anyone will do since almost everything made has at most a one year warranty. For the money, it shouldn’t look like this in such a short time. I talked with Momo over the phone and I’m basically SOL. The “kid” on the phone didn’t really seem to care at all and had nothing of help to offer. That means I’m stuck with this garbage steering wheel until I can afford another one. I will never buy another Momo product ever again.

I just installed the Momo Prototipo yesterday and I have not had a chance to drive the car yet so I cannot give any "driving" impressions. However, here are some thoughts about the quality of the wheel and the difficulty/ease of installation. I love the aesthetic qualities of this wheel. The design is a simple tri-spoke. The wheel is flat so there is no dish. The horn button is small and simple but ultimately serves its function. The "Prototipo" engraving is appropriate and not overwhelming. The leather is expertly wrapped around the wheel. You can see the seams on the back side of the wheel where the leather is glued but the glue job is smooth and clean. You can tell it is hand-sewn because the stitches are not perfectly straight. That might bother some but for me it's just fine. Finally, the combination of Momo steering wheel and steering hub are noticeably lighter than my stock steering wheel. The installation was extremely simple since I do not have an airbag in my 1987 BMW e28 535is. The install took about 10 - 15 minutes. I just cranked my wheels straight ahead. I marked the forward position on the steering spindle with a pen and then I lined up the steering hub which has a position marker labeled "Top". Then it was just 6 allen bolts to lock the wheel to the hub 7 nm (torque spec), followed by tightening the steering column spindle nut to secure the steering hub to the steering column spindle. Finally, I connected a single black wire from the steering hub to the back of the horn and there is a brass spring that contacts the hub to serve as the ground. Presto and done!

Very well made. I've never used an aftermarket steering wheel prior to this one and I am very impressed with the way it feels in the hand. The leather is top quality. That said it's not soft or supple, but it has pretty good grip. Considering this is the device you use to steer your vehicle I think that's a plus. In addition the brushed metal is light weight and has no rough edges around any of the stamped parts. I feel turning is more responsive (it's closer to the steering column than before so you need to turn the wheel less to get the same response as stock) and a lot more fun. The white stitching looks good as well. I think this will make it harder to clean as you wont want to get leather treatment on it, but as long as your careful it will remain stylish. One con was that the horn button did not work. It wasn't an issue since I had a different button I was planning on using, but it was a bit disappointing to receive the button in non-working condition. On the bright side the horn button is now prominently displayed in the garage.

My car already had a MoMo wheel that was 10 to 15 years old and frankly too small in diameter. I ordered this model as I like the depth of the dish and the diameter of the wheel. The distressed leather looks great and is tastefully done. The build quality is what you expect from MoMo and I receive compliments on it often. Installation is easy if you already have the adapter installed (sold separately). It is well boxed and shipment was quick. Very pleased with the product and recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade to a sport wheel. Obviously, if your vehicle is equipped with air bags, you will no longer have that safety feature.

I love this wheel! the leather feels so cool and it's such a classic look that fits so well. I don't know why it's cheaper here rather than $270 on the momo website but I'm not complaining. It's important to know that It doesn't come with a retaining ring but it comes with this little clip to hold it in so it's fine for my application. Don't bother getting cheap alternatives this is so worth the money!

A great wheel for a classic Miata. I left off a star because there were no screws, or any way of retaining the horn button (particularly frustrating with a QR hub) included in the package. No support from seller available, only straight to MOMO’s website. I’m not sure if they were supposed to be there or not but the pictures clearly show screws included. I’ll be contacting MOMO to find out more.

This is not genuine MOMO wheel. Bought same wheel two years ago and retaining ring, screws and wire were attached. In this one not, it also says that genuine steering wheel has NFC tag, tried scanning the wheel as per instructions and can’t read any NFC data. Also the one purchased two years ago had a 90deg cut on the edges while this one is beveled.

Fitted the wheel in my Dolly Sprint. I think it’s a massive improvement over the original wheel but that’s just down to personal preference. The momo wheel itself is beautifully made and a true vintage icon. Supplied here at the best price I could find by a long way. It took a while to arrive in the post but it was worth the wait. It’s not a faulty wheel as another reviewer suggested, it’s the HERITAGE version which comes with a pre distressed leather, so it has faded areas. The wheel is perfect but made to look old. If you are looking for the jet black perfect leather momo prototipo then don’t buy the HERITAGE- buy the other version. 👍🏻
