Flying free!
Easy to set up with your phone through a wireless connection. While the camera is 1080p, you won't notice it if it was a lower one on a smaller phone screen. The battery life does leave something to be desired, it was quick to get up and running from the ground.

An incredibly lightweight drone that's fairly simple to operate (in a large open space)...
The “V38 Foldable Drone” from “4DRC” is a small, compact drone with a built in 1080P camera which is operated using the included controller in conjunction with your phone.Set up of the drone is incredibly easy. You just need to download the App using the QR code within the instruction manual, insert the battery into the drone, switch the drone on, and then calibrate it using the joystick (note the joystick also requires 3x AAA batteries). Once done, you’re basically good to go.Familiarising yourself with the controls is pretty straight forward and doesn’t take long. We practiced in the back garden for a bit before taking the drone further afield. The App is really easy to use and provides live footage from the drone as long as it’s basically in sight. If you fly the drone too far, you’ll find it starts to struggle and that the App suddenly fails, and you lose picture. We found the drone to be fairly responsive and manoeuvred easily whilst in the air. We didn’t let it go too far once we were familiar with its capabilities, as when we first did this, we lost connection a couple of times. Basically, I’d say keep it in easy eyesight. Also, it should be notes we only got around 10-minutes of use out of the drone before it ran out of battery power and needed recharging. This recharging takes roughly an hour too.The drone is a pretty good starter one for someone keen to try out a drone. The drone is incredibly lightweight, weighing just 80g so (at the time of writing) allows flexibility with where you can fly it. However, as the drone has a camera on it, then depending on whether the drone is classed as a “toy” or not, will determine if you need to register as an operator (although even is so, you do not have to complete the flyer ID test (as per the UK CAA website)).The CAA has this to say on whether or not it’s a toy:There is no standard mark to show that a drone or model aircraft is a toy. Your drone or model aircraft is likely to be a toy if: the manufacturer or store you bought it from describes it as a toy, you bought it from a toy department or retailer, it is marked as suitable for below age 14 or a younger age group, it was advertised or packaged to attract children. The listing does state “RC Quadcopter for Kids” which suggests it meets the “it is marked as suitable for below age 14 or a younger age group” indicator. Therefore, personally, I would suggest it is a toy and therefore there is no need to register as an operator to use the toy drone. That’s my interpretation and assessment of this drone anyway!

Excellent Fun!!
Asked to review this drone. Must admit another joy of grand-children is their ability to grasp technical gadgets!Fully charged, we headed for a large open space on the south downs. Loads of fun.Flight time seemed limited, maybe 10 minutes, camera worked quite well with the mainly lack of control. This drone would/is an excellent starter for practice. Its excellent fun!

Noisy and not protective cage
The media could not be loaded. I've got plenty of experience with all manner of drones; toys, professional and cheaper GPS ones. I honestly didn't know what to expect with this one, being the first folding drone thst I've reviewed that folds in a book type. The first thing you notice is the noise. Flying this in the house was like having the vacuum cleaner going. This makes no sense for a small, toy drone. They're normally fairly quiet. This is reasonably responsive, so is fun to fly around, albeit a little cumbersome due to the hefty cage on it.The controls work well and it's a fairly standard toy drone transmitter that's included. This work without any major issues. The drone itself feels quite cheap and it just doesn't fit well once folded out.You do get 2 batteries included and 10 to 12 mins per battery sounds reasonable. The cage on this is very disappointed. It implies it gives it superior protection, however a small knock at low speed resulted in one peopellet jamming on the cage and shattering into pieces. Changing a prop is then a huge task and quire fiddly.Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed. I can't really recommend it.

So light
This comes packaged in a nice carry case that is handy for storing it. The drone is super easy to set up and it comes with clear instructions. There are two batteries for the drone included and then you'll need 3xAAA batteries for the controller. In the instruction manual there is a QR code for the app which is easy to set up. The drone itself is really light weight so I wouldn't advise using it on a super windy day but it is great fun to use, the controls take a bit of getting use too but that's all part of the fun. I really love this and can't wait to go exploring with it. One thing I do advise is making sure you check the areas of where you can and cannot fly a drone so you don't get yourself into trouble.
