I am not a DIY person but found this easy to fit. It has a smooth open / shut motion and sits well in the ceiling downstairs toilet) without being obtrusive. We used it to be able to gain access to plumbing above in the ceiling.

This is a solid metal frame with hinged (and removeable door) that provides access within a wall space. It's designed to work with plasterboard and the recess is just the right depth. You can plaster over it with just the gap around where it opens. Door opens wide or can be removed, and has a safety line for when in a ceiling. It works well and is easy to install. Good value for money.

Good quality hatch, nicely finished all over and subsequently packaged well to protect the panel during shipping. I did already have a panel to hand for a particular job... replacing a portion of the kitchen ceiling which suffered damage from leaking pipework joints. I will now be using this panel instead due to it being a little larger at 300 x 400, and the fact that the door can be removed easily if required. There is 1 Star dropped however, due to an initial problem that another reviewer spoke of... a dodgy catch that wouldn't lock in place. After some close inspection, I could see on the 'dodgy' one that there was too much space/slack between the arms holding the nylon roller and the catch's housing (compared to the one that was working). A broad/flat screwdriver helped to splay the arms slightly, and take up the slack (too much, and the roller arm could bind btw). After doing this, the catch works perfectly every time. Despite the above, I would certainly go for this hatch again when needed. If they can sort out the potential catch problem completely, this is a solid 5-Star item. As it is, on a quality/value-for-money basis.... 4-Stars.
