I’m very impressed with this Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) in flake form. The product arrived well packaged, clearly labelled, and exactly as described at 500g (17.63oz). The flakes are clean, dry, and uniform in size, which makes them easy to measure and dissolve. Purity appears excellent — it performs exactly as sodium hydroxide should, with no visible contamination or moisture clumping. Dissolves quickly in water (with the expected heat reaction), so it’s clearly fresh and potent. A small resealable bag of caustic soda flakes (500g). The flakes are large and white. This produce can cause irritation to the skin so handle with care - rubber gloves and safety glasses. Rinse any accidental splashes with plenty of cold water - it can also damage clothes. There are no instructions for use on the packaging, just 5 bullet points of cautions. I use this product for drain cleaning and it works well. The flakes are easy to use. Using a plastic container and stirrer (wooden or plastic) use 100g of flakes to 1L of cold water and gentle stir - add flakes to water never other way round. Solution will fizz and get warm - chemical reaction making heat. Once all the flakes have dissolved carefully and slowly pour liquid into the drain. Wait between 30-60 mins then flush with boiling water. This great for dissolving grease, dead skin, old food and trapped hair.

This worked perfectly without any issues at all and is quite good quality. It comes in a decent quantity, especially compared to the price that you can get it for. Highly recommend for anyone who needs it.

I got this to use in science experiments with my daughter but it's also really good for unblocking drains and clearing greasy deposits. In its raw state it is rather caustic and I was surprised to see that it is used in the making of soaps and cosmetics. I suppose you need to be really careful about the quantities. At just under £15 for 100 gms it's not cheap, but you don't need very much. It comes in a resealable pack.

Good product with a variety of uses. I personally use it for degreasing, and it works perfectly for my needs. I was able to cover a large area with no issues at all. Overall, I'm really pleased with its performance and reliability.

I used it to make soap. I have been a soapmaker for years, and never had this problem like this It was popping out of the container everywhere . I could not contain it to pour and as a result it marked my bathroom counter as they flew under a cosmetic stand and I didn't find it until later. Will never buy it again. Bought my last at home hardware and no problem. I have never been buned in !my years tell this lye you are considering.
