Alessi WA09/ WUK Cordless Electric Kettle

Please do not ignore this review and do as I and many others did, buy this kettle thinking it was just a bad batch. As beautiful as this kettle is, it is not fit for purpose. The lid will open as the kettle reaches boiling point, exceptionally unsafe. After weeks of me thinking it was us not closing the lid properly and water damage to our ceiling I have finally accepted it is a design fault. It doesn't matter how hard you close the lid it pops open. I've lost count of the number of times I've come back to the kitchen to find it boiling away and the room full of steam. Sadly I would say avoid.

This is just the most stunning kettle but alas after 3 weeks the lid kept on flipping open - a bit dangerous when it happens when the kettle starts to boil.Sometimes the lid wont close so we have to rest a heavy object e.g a mug on it to keep it closed.- not a great look then but its the only way to stop it popping open! Alessi are unhelpful as the rest of the reviews indicate !! I Have to put up or buy another.Its a shame for a company with such a good design reputation to not get the magnetic catch in the resin re designed to function better.The next one I am buying comes with an extended 2 year guarantee making the expense more but I just love the kettle and am going to try my luck once more and if there are further problems I wont be back!!

One of the best looking kettles on the market just not very good! Fast and quiet boil. Lid is flimsy and the release button does not work all the time. The kettle also has to be in line with the base to fit, so awkward to use. However its sleek and minimal design still makes it an attractive purchase. Construction and feel is no better than a cheap kettle, you are paying for design.

Having been through 2 of these lovely kettles due to the well known lid problem, I couldn't face returning/buying another OR living without this beautiful kettle - so I decided to fix it......and the good news is that its a really easy fix! First open the lid and locate the 4 circular caps inside. Using the top of a sharp knife prise these out to reveal philips screws underneath. Unscrew, and the lid separates. Add a little olive oil to the spring and also underneath the sliding mechanism. Work the mechanism until it all slides/works perfectly, and then mop up residual olive oil with a paper towel. Screw tightly back together and replace the caps. Why any vegetable based lubrication is not applied by Alessi in the first place beggars belief?Alessi - thank you for a wonderful kettle. You are sh*t but you are welcome :-)

Having had two of these Alessi kettles, both have not been upto standard, and both have had short lives.The lid constantly flips open, water spills over and now just outside of 12 months purchase has gone bang. Whilst the style and look is fabulous the operation is rubbish and the kettle life is very short. I wont be purchasing another Alessi.

I love the appearance of this kettle. It’s contemporary and does look good in our kitchen. However the design is flawed. I have purchased a few of these, on the basis of our guarantee and the goodwill of Amazon. The kettle lid pops open when boiling on occasions. The lid itself can be difficult to close and we have had occasions when the on button does not work or sit proud with the lid. So far THIS kettle has been relatively ok with the exception of the button difficulties as described.

This amazing kettle has 50/50 good and bad reviews on Amazon....I received mine yesterday and it boils super fast... the lid did open upon boiling, but only when filled to near max and prob due to the build up of steam pressure against the catch...the lid works properly otherwise...The looks are too stunning to fail to buy except for a major safety issue.

Beautiful to look at but sadly doesn't function too well as a kettle 😢The problem with it is the lid either doesn't want to shut or flies open when it's on which is particularly dangerous when it's reaching boiling point as it bubbles spitting water everywhere.We persevered for a couple of weeks hoping it'd get better but sadly had to refund for a refund as it's simply not fit for purpose. Have now ordered the alessi stovetop kettle.Lid issues seem to be a common fault with this one.

Basis-Station wurde mit einem 3-pin-Stecker (GB) geliefert - zum Glück kann ich die Lade-Basis-Ststion des defekten Hot.it-Wasserkochers verwenden.

Der Deckel von Wasserkocher ,springt beim kochen immer aus ,möchte das Teil umtauschen.

Schnelle Lieferung. Ware in Ordnung. Aber leider kein deutscher Stecker am Gerät. Man müsste einen Adapter kaufen, um das Gerät bedienen zu können. Und das ohne Vorankündigung. Verkauft man in Deutschland, muss auch ein deutscher Stecker am Gerät sein. Davon muss man ausgehen können. Schade. Keine Kaufempfehlung, da unbrauchbar.
