Easy To Set. VERY EFFECTIVE. Easy clean up. Reusable. Fantabulous.
II cannot say enough about this rat trap. I am SO IMPRESSED. I truly hate mice and rats but living accross from a wooded area I'm affraid it's going to be a constant battle. The only thing I dislike even more are the old school wooden spring traps. I would like to shake the hand of the person who came up with this little goddess of a trap for rodents. You my friend are going down in history. It's super easy to set these traps. Before you set the trap, flip it upside down and unscrew the little loading cup. We used peanut butter with a peanut stuck in on top. You can use your hand to undo it and put it back in. There is no screwdriver or anything needed. It's just a little half turn. Then flip it back to the correct side and place it up against a wall where you know you have rodent traffic. (where you see droppings that look like chocolate sprinkles but ytou don't want to put this kind on your ice cream) Then you can use your hand or I like to use my foot to press the mechanism down. It's the big thing in the middle that looks like a piano peddle. It's spring loaded. So you might need to put a little umph into it to get it all the way down. That is why I use my foot. You will feel it lock in place. And your good. We started catching rats on the first night. I haven't even had to change the bait for two weeks and we catch something every night. I think it's something to do with the small tunnel that makes them very comfortable. The old wood traps it was kind of hit or miss depending on how well you set the trap. Sometimes they were able to gently lick all the bait off the trap without setting it off. But not these. These are almost self setting every time. You just have to press the peddle down and it catches at the right place. I check it every morning and when I see that the peddle is back up again I know to look for a black tail sticking out. Then I just put my disposable gloves on and have my partner in crime hold a plastic bag open then I position the trap so the tunnel is horizontal and I press down on the piano peddle and out falls mr rat into the bag. Dead and stiff as a rock. Tie the bag off and put it into the trash. We have it on our back patio and we put a little doggie gate around the area so in case our dogs detect it first they can't get to it. But That is just because my silly dogs think they are ratters. They LOVE catching rats. It's so disgusting to me. When I see them do it, I'm like ok but no kisses from you today. I don't want to be near your mouth after that. But the way the trap is designed I'm not sure they would even be able to get to the rat. Maybe if they grabbed the tail and pulled on it hard enough. But I kinda doubt it. I also don't think you would have to worry about your pet getting snapped by it. The tunnel is a brilliant design. I used to put the wood snap traps out by my shed in the back and occasionally some poor baby cardnal or something would get snapped in it and I would feel so bad about that and stop using them altogether. But with this tunnel design I don't think a bird would feel comfortable going inside a tunnel on the ground level like that. So problem solved. Anyway this is a great trap and I highly reccommend it for everyone who has a problem with rats and mice.

Works! Clean and easy disposal.
Have had the Tratper for almost 2 months and have caught 2 VERY large rats. I was surprised it worked on them. Like 1/2 their body was out of the trap. But they were killed instantly by the clasp thing that comes down on the head/neck. VERY easy to angle into a bag and release the clasp for the rat to drop into bag and be disposed of. Unit was clean, no blood seen. Very easy to put food into bottom. Just unscrew, put what you want in it (I used peanut butter with a 1 in. cut beef jerky stick that I used a candle lighter on to fry it and make grease juices run down into peanut butter) and screw it back in.

Highly effective, SAFE to arm, keeps pets and smaller hoomans safe so you can place where need.
**HIGHLY** effective “vacation homes” for your unwanted guests. I’ve added little “time share contracts” onto the trigger pedal inside and my uninvited guests are lining up enough that my 2 pack homes”vacation homes” are almost constantly full, enough I just ordered the 4 pack of “vacation homes”. Super easy and **safe** to arm/rearm after your guest has signed their time share contract. Grew up using the old flat pack Victor brand houses, and after nearly losing a finger to a failed “maintenance repair” to it AND having pets who may try and sign a contract to get the free peanut butter lure I used to get my uninvited guests into their own little homes, I can place these where I need without worry. Had my doubts on initial purchase, but absolutely hands down these are the best “vacation homes” on the market! Grab some for yourself and quickly become your own time share mogul!

Sturdy, easy to set, no finger risk mouse traps
Nice design, easy to set (you can use your foot), the bait well is easy to insert (and a little easier to remove than some other traps). Your fingers are never in danger :) Caught a mouse the first night I set these up! You have to get pretty close to see if there is anything in the trap (everything is solid black it's hard to tell if it's tripped from a distance). The chunky plastic jaws did their job well. Easy to get rid of mr. mouse, and easy to rinse out the trap with very hot water. I'm pretty happy with these.

Super fast results!
BEST TRAP EVER! I set one trap at the steps of the outdoor hot tub last night at 8pm and this morning I had TWO in one trap! Crazy impressive results. I’m in Colorado and the mice destroy hot tub insulation. So today I set the second one and reloaded the first. They are clean and easy to snap open to get rid of the dead mice easily and reset! Just used peanut butter for bait as the product suggested. So inexpensive! I mean I used other traps and never caught anything so these are like a miracle for my patio! I used firewood to disguise them and to keep them in place from the wind. Just an idea. I would be sad I lost one of these traps!

These traps kill rats
Not too long ago, I came home from a trip to the mountains and discovered one of our A/C units wasn't working. We live in the desert, and when the A/C is off, things get hot in a hurry. I thought it was the thermostat, but after replacing it and trying a few other fixes, I called in the expert. Several hours later, we discovered that a rat had made a nest in the outside condenser unit and chewed through the 220V wiring! My wife would sometimes complain about seeing a rat run along the top of the wall in the backyard, but as I told her, they'll always be here. They like the fruit trees among other things, and I'd been ignoring them. Until they attacked my air conditioner. That pissed me off. After rewiring the unit, I searched for a rat solution. I have a dog and have never liked poisons for anything, plant or animal, because a poisoned pest can be consumed by a dog, hawk, or other animal and kill them too. The TRATPER came highly reviewed, so I bought four of them and placed one on each side of the house. The first night I caught a nice big female, and a big male the next. It appeared the trap killed them quickly and humanely, which is important to me even if it's a rat. Since them I've eliminated a number of rats and mice with these traps. I use peanut butter for bait and have to renew it periodically as some smaller animals (mice probably) will clean the bait bowl clean as a whistle without tripping the trigger. That's alright, I don't have an issue with the little guys. The big ones that like to gnaw on things just to keep their teeth sharp, that's different. These traps work well, humanely, and are easy to dispose of the rat; wear gloves, pick the trap up and hold it over wherever you're putting the carcass, and squeeze the spring to open the jaws. The trapped critter will fall out and you're done other than to rebait and replace. I usually soak the trap in a bucket of water overnight with a little dish soap just because, but doubt that's necessary. Just be sure to check them daily. Oh, and I closed the entrance points to the A/C units with sheet metal. No more rat hotel...

Not for a full size rat!
This is a great trap! It will catch mice and small rats but not BIG rats. That was my only issue. The tunnels are not big enough if the rat is a foot long!

Caught 2 rats at one time!
I have limited hand grip and overall strength (my hands are arthritic). These traps I found extremely easy to set with my foot. I also did not understand what to expect between mixed reviews on the sizes caught vs how effective the "K" shot was. I waited several months before I am doing this review and I can say I am pleased. Since 10/25, I've caught 7. It is more effective on the smaller ones where the entire body goes inside. The larger ones? Well, unless the claw trap hits just the right spot on the back of the neck, you're going to be left with one that will suffer as it is stuck. Unless it's screwed down, you're going to have a rat flopping around trying to escape. And, one time, I couldn't stand to sit there and watch it suffer, so I picked up the whole thing with a shovel and put it in a 5-gallon bucket of water to put it out of its misery a little quicker. And you'll want to make sure they are passed away before you open to release the body! This picture I'm including with the review I was able to catch TWO at the same time! One was a juvenile size and the other is even smaller. I've just been using peanut butter in the receptacle. Now, due to my hands, I do have to use both hands (make sure and use gloves) to open the claw. I do appreciate the design though because it ensures you'll never have to touch the body. I do wish future models would have some sort of (reflective) tape so that you can see at a distance if the trap has set off. So, if you're intimidated by the original spring-loaded open traps, definitely give these a try. I only purchased two and I'll be purchasing another set.
