Not Just Romance, Not Just Intrigue, Not Just History
Still one of the best series I have ever read, period and exclamation point. I've been a fan of the series for a long, long time, but had only ever managed to collect a handful of it's volumes, mostly forced to settle for reading scanlations and such online. This series has it all, and despite it being labeled as shojo, I wouldn't honestly put it in that category. At least not compared to the stereotypes. Yes, there is romance, and that romance is arguably one of the major factors behind everything that happens at any point in the series. But this series has everything. It has exquisite art, superbly researched history, rich and fleshed out characters. It has politics, it has intrigue, it has action. It has strong and clever female characters, it has wise and kind male characters, and it has everything in between.I could continue to proselytize this series quite happily for several hundred more words, but will instead close with this: this series caused me to discover one of my favorite historical time periods and civilizations. I would happily donate to a crowdfund to turn it into an anime if one of the major distributers wouldn't be willing to make it, and I would give at least a couple of ribs to voice even a minor side character.Buy and read this series, you won't regret it!

Such nostalgia
I remember reading the original 3 volumes in Barnes & Nobles when I was a lot younger. It was such a titillating story. Time travel series were all the rage back then but this one was one of the few that stood out! Highly recommend it if you were a fan of Inuyasha & The Pharoah's Concubine.

So happy for this re-release!
So happy to have this omnibus version of Red River in my hands! It is printed similarly to the other Shojo Beat 3-in-1s like Skip Beat! and High School Debut, for reference. I never was able to collect this series when I was younger so to be able to have it now and not priced super-high on the secondary market, is super exciting! Definitely will be buying all of these as they release, and hopefully Viz will print other shoujo classics from their catalog this way as well (like Basara, Please Save My Earth, Haruka, etc.)

Worth it!
I rushed to preorder this once I heard about the reprint for this manga classic.I haven’t read through this 3-in-1 set (which contains the first three volumes of Red River) at the time of posting this review, but it looks as expected- good condition, no pages appeared to have print errors, and is definitely worth the grab.I can’t wait to dive back into this story!

better than most recent mangas you can read
there's something to be said about older mangas that dwelve into territories new ones don't dare to thread. I'm not into shojo manga aside a few exceptions, but there's something special about this one.
