This filter appears to be very well made, and the honeycomb activated charcoal thing does appear to work and reduce odor. Should be a home run and would have been but for one fact:It doesn't fit tightly. There is at least 1/8th to 1/4th inch of vertical play in my Germ Guardian unit when this filter is inserted. That's not good in a HEPA filter—all of the edges should be tightly sealed. You should feel mild resistance in all directions and have to apply slight force to push this filter in, squishing the surrounding foam into the gaps to ensure an airtight seal, so that contaminants in the air can't just blow by the filter.The fact that this filter sits somewhat "loosely" in the unit means that while it's cleaning some air, it's not a true HEPA filter any longer—at least some particles are going in the back and then flying right back out the front again as they go *around* the filter media rather than through it.
