Will it last forever? I can't say for certain. Maybe the foam insert to hold the pieces will loosen but I play with my son at least once a week and its holding up nicely. Don't expect polished burl finest woodworking but for a wooden set it does just fine.

Great game, every piece is nicely done, the board is lovely, it’s been fun teaching my 10 year old how to play and love the magnets that keep the pieces in place.

I bought this set for Mr grandson’s 8th birthday. I haven’t given it to him yet but the set looks substantial. I wanted magnetic pieces because his family likes to travel.

The good news is I received a wooden chess set that contains all the checkers and chess pieces as pictured. However, the craftsmanship is a bit shoddy for the price. I’m keeping the set because it’s still usable, but I don’t think it’s a one-time defect but rather poor quality control. I’d worry that trying to exchange with the seller will end up with another set that has the same issues.Both checkers and chess are lightly magnetized, which is a plus with children bumping the board. The board has the numbering and lettering as pictured to help my daughter learn the spaces.It would be a five-star product if the quality control were better. The edges are rough, scuffed and the stain did not adhere to the wood. However, the stain did get on top of the board where it isn’t supposed to be. I bought the set expecting it to last longer than plastic and cardboard, but I’m doubtful of the durability.
