After a few months of use it stops working!
The rice keeps on collecting around the cover of the portioning device and portioning device it self making it impossible to press down the metering lever to dispense rice! The metering device gets stuck and it keeps on giving me half of the amount of rice that it supposed to dispense. I tried emptying and removing the accumulated rice several times already, but after a few dispensing the same problem comes back. Now I have to lift the top cover and use the cup rice dispenser that the rice cooker came in with. I bought 1 of this a few years ago and that one is still doing great! Now it's a expensive bulky container! Maybe I got a bad one or maybe you should stay away from this one!

The Perfect Dispenser
I purchased one of these on a whim from a local Japanese store. I scoured "the interwebs" to find a second unit! It's the perfect size (thin enough to fit into a narrow cabinet, but not too tall) and dispenses well. The dispenser control works smoothly and loads quickly. Easy to clean.

Item was broken upon unpackaging
Packaging was done very lazily. There was hardly anything to provide any support. Not surprised the item was cracked. Felt very cheaply made for the price. Suggest others to look elsewhere.

Why didn’t I get sooner?
This item makes my life so much easier and it’s also perfect for my husband who always could not measure rice right with the small attached cup. Now perfect rice every time. I love it!

NO ENGLISH TRANSLATION
because of lack of english translation on the dispenser itself and manual that is why i gave it 3 stars. it does give 1 cup of rice when u pull the lever one time to dispense the rice.

Love this rice dispenser, works great and so accurate for Japanese rice.
To be honest this is my second one of these rice dispensers. But that's why I got another one. We have one for every type of rice we have, so far we have about three of them. We used to eat less rice but since the lockdown, we have not been able to go our as much so more cooking at home. We got into this new rice for us, called Haiga rice, which I will describe as half brown rice. Let's say all the goodness of brown rice without the fuss, shorter cooking, soaking and haha, eating. To me it is nearly a perfect rice, more healthy than white rice, but less hard and less nutty to a pure brown rice.Anyways, we needed to store it conveniently and just using the bag it came in wasn't an option for me. So had to get another one of these rice dispensers. Now let me tell you that the rice dispensers of today are of no comparison with the different varieties from my childhood. I can remember seeing so many different types from Japan. These were huge and had cool features like a built in rice cleaning bowl with the strainer built in. The different buttons for differing quantities of rice, one, two or three cups of rice at a time. All made of thin sheets of steel and wood, with legs to keep them off the ground. all could eat up a 25 or even a 50 pounds of rice.Sorry I digress, back to the rice dispenser, this one is easy and built for today, just big but enough to fit your 20 pounds of rice. Simple lever to perfectly dispense one Asian rice cup, which is 3/4 of a regular cup. So don't get all bent when you only get 180-200cc of rice ok people. It's the average serving of cooked rice per person, in Asia. So if you really like rice then use an actual cup of rice, but if you are like the average Asian, then one of these cups that came with your rice cooker will be enough. The rice is kept but free with a nice fitting lid, you get rice dispensed from the bottom so older stuff gets used up first. And you never have to touch the rest of the uncooked rice with wet or unclean hands. The rice neatly falls into a drawer which you then pull out and you are done. I think it can hold about 5 cups of rice in the drawer. That's a lot of rice. All in all a nearly perfect way to keep your rice. My other one is nearly 10 years old now, still working with nearly daily use.
