I bought this item as a replacement for a lost adapter. While it does power my FDR-AX53 camera, it will not charge an attached battery at all - even when left connected to the camera overnight. The charging indicator on the camera lights briefly when the adapter is connected, but goes out a few seconds later. I returned it and bought the OEM Sony adapter, which charges my battery beautifully.
