UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: After not burning this candle since initially receiving it, I decided to try it again. I LOVE it now! I don't know if it's because I let it sit out for a couple of weeks or what, but I don't find the scent the least bit overwhelming anymore. It's fragrant, but not overly so. Again, I love the concept of this candle and think it would make a great gift for an avid reader, as it comes in a giftable box. Once this candle is done, I will most likely try another scent.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love the concept of this candle, but found the scent much too strong for my liking.

You can’t go wrong with a Paddywax candle — their fragrances, burn and unique vessels. This is one of my favorite fragrances but I purchased it for a friend who is a Poe fan. Only thing is it’s pricey. HomeGoods often has select number of various Paddywax candles at a fraction of the cost.

I looked all over to get a scent that was the right vibe we were going for in our room. We settled on this and love it. It has very attractive packaging and container for the candle. Smells great.

These candles are simply wonderful. The Charles Dickens is Christmas in a candle! I’ve bought it twice now! Only downside is cost, and sadly they burn fast. Short lived, but the scent will take you back in time.

I've tried many high-end candles over the past year as well as ones from Marshall's, Target, and Yankee Candle. I've determined that soy candles made with essential oils are best. Soy burns more cleanly than paraffin and synthetic fragrances turn me off in comparison. The Edgar Allan Poe is the only one from Paddywax that I'm inclined to order again, but I must say that the fragrance is exceptional and intoxicating. It isn't sweet and it isn't floral. I think it's a fragrance that men would also be partial to filling their home with. Perhaps it is a combination of woodsy and musky? It's hard to say. The reason for only four stars is that it seems I must be sitting next to the candle to really enjoy its fragrance. When I really want to fill a room with fragrance, I opt for archipelago candles, preferably burl wood. However, change is a necessity and I love to burn E.A.Poe on the side table next to me while I read.

Matches scent with style.

They're a bit expensive, but the scent is wonderful... sweet and manly at the same time. I feel like I'm in my uncle's library when they're lit. And my uncle didn't even have a library! Maybe it smells like pipe smoke or something but it's very soothing. Quality wise, they're fine. They last quite a while if you trim the wick after each use.

Purchased for a friend's birthday. Scent was great, not too overpowering. It's a little pricey for the size of candle, but you're paying for the gimmick I suppose. Like I said, nice gift for a book lover.

La candela è buona e molto bella, ma la confezione arrivata è completamente rovinata. Inoltre è stata presa per un regalo, quindi così è assai poco presentabile. Considerato il costo non banale di questi prodotti mi sarei aspettata una cura maggiore.
