Exactly what I expected
The gauze is exactly what I expected, my only concern was that the package arrived several days late.

What can you say about a bandage?
Good for open wounds. With such wounds you need to make sure they dont dry out. This has a thin membrane that keeps the would from doing that. A dried out wound feels almost as bad as the original wound :(. The other advantage with this is, that it makes it easier to apply any ointments if you need. You put a thin coat of vaseline on the spot to make sure that the pad does not absorb the ointment. Then put the ointment on top of the vaseline. That way you dont actually have to touch the hole in your body directly (Blech). If you touch it it feels like a thin diaper is how you would describe it. So will pull moisture away (unless you put the vaseline in it) but not dry it out.PS Vetericyn gel works great with it. Vetericyn is mild enough to spray directly into the eye, and it will just feel a little irritated later. Like if you were to rub your eye too hard. The PETCO clerk said she recommends it for animals with eye infections, so I decided to try it to make sure it would not cause my own wound to sting. No issues there and doc said my would is healing really well.

The better ABD pads
Far superior to the mediocre Medline pads supplied by the VA.

Excellent post surgical dressing
This large pad was exactly what I needed post surgery, in combination with 2-3 inch wide dressing tape. This worked great for me after my hysterectomy.
